If you own your server or play in single-player mode, you can spawn creatures and objects, change the time of the day, fly, and use various cheats in ARK to make your life easier. However, ARK Survival Ascended takes this to another level by introducing a special Cheat Menu that aligns with the new game’s UI. It is well-described and straightforward. In this article, we’ll explore how to spawn DLC creatures, what you can do in the new Cheat menu, how to activate it, and what it means for ASA in the future.
Update: As of the latest update, October 28, 2023, it is no longer possible to open this secret cheat menu. Hopefully, mods or future patches may bring the functionality back. However, the regular cheat menu and console commands still work exactly as in ARK Survival Exolved.
New Cheat Menu Allows to Spawn DLC Creatures in ARK Survival Ascended
The new Cheat Menu lets you spawn DLC creatures, consumables, weapons, armor, structures, and every item obtainable through non-cheat methods in ARK Survival Ascended. To activate the cheat menu, you must be in single-player mode or be an admin of an unofficial server and press “Shift” + “.” This key combination will bring up the menu, which is divided into various categories marked by ARK icons. The new menu is a fantastic addition, much more intuitive and easier to use than the classic console command.
As you scroll through the categories in the new UI, you’ll quickly notice that the developers have also prepared it for ARK Ascended DLCs. You can find Aberration, Extinction, and Scorched Earth creatures, tek, and items there. However, not everything will appear in your inventory when you try to spawn it. For instance, you won’t be able to obtain Adobe structures from the Scorched Earth DLC, possibly because these items are not yet ready and have not been added to the game files.
The good news is that all the dinosaurs we tested did appear as expected. However, there were some that we couldn’t ride until we used another cheat. To do this, press the “`” button (located next to “1” on the keyboard) to bring up the classic console cheat, then type “forcetame” while aiming directly at the creature you want to mount. This should enable you to use and spawn all DLC Creatures in ARK Survival Ascended.
Items or creatures generated from DLCs that are not officially available in the game yet may appear different and of lower quality. This difference is because they have not yet been upgraded to the new Unreal Engine 5 and do not match ARK Survival Ascended’s graphic improvements.
How to use New UI and Cheat Menu in ARK Survival Ascended
To open the new ARK Survival Ascended Cheat Menu in AS UI, press:
- “Shift” button + “.” button simultaneously.
To open the Console commands in ARK Ascended, press the”`” button next to “1” on the keyboard.
In the menu, to spawn an item, for example, a new dye color, select the “Dyes” category and click the color you need. It will be automatically added to your inventory. To spawn a creature, choose one from the available list. Also, check the top option boxes. You can spawn a creature that is wild or already tamed. You can also adjust its level, gender, and age. This provides a quick and easy-to-use UI as an alternative to the traditional console command, where you need to type a unique code for each creature and a number to define its level, all in a specific order. With console commands in ARK Ascended, it’s easy to make a mistake, while in the new ARK Survival Ascended UI, spawning creatures from both DLC and the base game is much simpler.
Besides spawning objects and dinosaurs, you can use it to modify the weather, enable flight for your character, manipulate the time, and grant new levels to yourself and others. How Will DLC Creatures in ARK Survival Ascended Affect the Game?
The ability to spawn DLC items and creatures in ARK Survival Ascended shouldn’t pose any issues for those who run their servers or primarily play in single-player or non-dedicated servers. It’s a feature that you can have complete control over. Adding DLC creatures into your gameplay can add an extra layer of enjoyment while we await the official release of ASA DLCs.
However, it’s worth noting that on some unofficial servers, there is a rare practice of charging a small fee for “extra items.” It’s not new to ARK, but it happens occasionally. In my experience, free-to-join servers typically limit these charges to cosmetic items like skins, which you can access with a modest donation and are entirely optional. Yet, they often don’t require any payments for playing on this server type, usually creating a small and welcoming community where anyone can join and have fun.
