Let’s take a look at what’s in store for one of last year’s hottest games in Baldur’s Gate 3 Future – Patch 6 and DLC.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Future – Patch 6
In exciting news today, Larian Studios finally given patient gamers an update on the status of Patch 6 for Baldur’s Gate 3! We now have official word that it will release sometime next week. It’s been a bit of time since we last heard about a major update from Larian, though the year-end holidays would have obviously impacted their workflow.
The official tweet even gives some tantalizing hints at what we can expect to see with this new Patch. Perhaps to coincide with the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday, the developer’s have ‘made improvements to locking lips with your romantic partner!’ It will be interesting to see the details on what this means. The surface reading suggests an improvement of the graphical variety and how it looks on screen. However, it could also mean that dialogue choices have been updated or the romantic scenes may trigger more consistently.
Additionally, Larian has also promised new camp idle animations, new Legendary Actions in Honour Mode, and lots of bug fixes. Camp animations are definitely something that people have been asking for. Although most would really like to see companions actually interacting with each other. ‘Idle animations’ suggest that the companions will still be standing in front of their tents this Patch. But perhaps this will be a step in that direction.
Finally, the new Legendary Actions in Honour Mode should be another fun challenge for those who enjoy BG3 combat. The original Legendary Actions are all pretty well documented across the internet by now, so coming across something unexpected will be exciting!
Baldur’s Gate 3 Future – DLC Possibilities
While the Patch updates to the game have been well received, there has also long been speculation about what possible DLC Larian Studios might create for the game. There are plenty of subjects that Larian Studios could do a DLC on. (Spoilers for some endings of the game below.) Something that focuses on your character and former companions helping to rebuild the City of Baldur’s Gate seems like an obvious place to pick the story up.
However, almost immediately after players first finished the game, perhaps the loudest requests have been for a happy ending for everyone’s favorite Barbarian, Karlach. The lack of a way to completely fix her infernal engine was heartbreaking to many players. Consequently, one of the first additions of new content to the game was the possibility a new, less tragic ending for Karlach, where she returned to Avernus with friends.
Furthermore, the Epilogue released in Patch 5 takes this even farther. Should you have a high enough approval to convince Karlach to return to Avernus, she is able to attend the party in the epilogue. She tells the player of how she’s found a blueprint that could potentially fix her engine. All they need to do is get past Zariel’s forces who are guarding the forge. If that’s not a perfect set-up for a DLC, we don’t know what is!
