Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is a deceptively hard game. It starts off with regular enemies with predictable attack patterns, and then rapidly escalates the difficulty through the next 30 hours. The bosses get harder, and if you wish to be appropriately leveled in the late-game, you can’t afford to skip them. The Chromatic Chalier is one such difficult boss you face on your journey that rewards you with 82,163 XP.

Found in the SInister Cave, the Chromatic Chalier is a behemoth that moves much faster than its appearance would lead you to believe. The boss carries a giant ice sword that hits like a truck. Just when you get comfortable dealing with the sword, the boss begins throwing hands and kicks, throwing you out of your comfort zone. There’s a lot to go over if you wish to beat this boss, and this article will go over how to beat the Chromatic Chalier in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

The Chromatic Chalier is weak to Light and resistant to Dark. Take advantage of this information by subbing out Sciel and sticking to Verso as your main damage dealer. Verso’s Phantom Stars is capable of eating away a chunk of the boss’ HP.

As far as the boss’ offense goes, the Chromatic Chalier relies on three main attacks. The first is a six-hit, relentless combo. The first two strikes are slow and easy to parry. After the second hit, the boss speeds up the attack, with hits #3 and #4 being vertical slashes, and #5 and #6 being spinning strikes. Parry all strikes to counterattack and deal damage.

The second attack you need to watch for is the three-hit swiping combo. While the first hit requires you to jump, the other two have predictable parry windows. The third and final is the easiest of the bunch and is a predictable three-hit melee combo. This combo begins with a kick that may throw you off guard, so be prepared for that. Parry, counterattack, and use Verso to tear this boss to shreds.
