The crafter, as its name suggests, serves the purpose of crafting. The way it differentiates itself from the crafting table is by its ability to automatically craft items. It can operate instantaneously and repetitively without the need for any manual support once powered. So, in short, all you need to do is place the recipes for the items you want to craft in abundance in the specific layout the item requires. Once placed, trigger the redstone with a lever. Your item will now be auto-crafted as per the quantity of items you have placed as the ingredients.

The crafter is an omnidirectional block. When placed, it faces the direction in which the player is looking at it. This is the same direction from which the crafter will shoot out the materials it crafts.

To craft a crafter, a total of four ingredients are required in varied proportions. These are the steps you can follow to make your life easy and craft the crafter.

  1. First, take five iron ingots. Cover the top row with three ingots and the left and right boxes on the second row.
  2. Now, take two redstone powders and place them on the left and right sides of the third row.
  3. In the middle column of the last row, place the furnace.
  4. The last ingredient, which is the crafting table, has to be placed bang in the centre. Your crafter will now be prepared.

When mining the crafter, remember to use a pickaxe, or the item will be destroyed.

The crafter holds a 3×3 grid where the materials used for crafting can be put. Right below it is the inventory, where you can store items that you may need to work on later or just use as a chest. To the right of the 3×3 grid is an arrow that indicates whether the machine is powered by the redstone dust or not. When powered, it will glow with a red colour. Further right is the box in which you can see what will be crafted.

A crafter can also transfer crafted items into hoppers, droppers, chests, shulker boxes, dispensers, or other crafters. If no container is near the crafter, it will simply shoot the crafted items by opening its mouth and coughing them out.

The crafter can’t autofill items. This means that you will need to know the exact layout of an item’s ingredient structure to begin producing it, unlike the crafting table, which is automatic in that sense. The best use of the crafter is to automatically prepare food items like bread to save you time. It is one of the best tools you can now use with the help of redstone.
