The following guide explains how to get the new Caretaker weapon. Also, this sword can be crafted, so we’ll explain how to unlock the Caretaker pattern. You shouldn’t miss out on this fantastic-looking adaptive frame legendary seasonal weapon, introduced at the start of season 20.
How to get the Caretaker Sword in Destiny 2?
The Caretaker Sword you can get after completing the “Awaken, Queensguard” mission, which is part of the seasonal questline. After that, you’ll get access to the War Table in the H.E.L.M. and all seasonal weapons. Now you can start collecting them and their patterns. Here are all methods you can use to obtain any of the six seasonal weapons, including the Caretaker Sword:
- Defiant Battlegrounds activity located in the H.E.L.M
- Decoding Defiant engrams at the War Table in the H.E.L.M
- War Table Reputation Rewards
If you can’t find Defiant Battlegrounds or access War Table, it means you need to progress more into the Lightfall Campaign, and eventually, the story splits into separate Season of Defiance campaign.
The Defiant Battlegrounds are seasonal activities located in the H.E.L.M. that have a chance to drop any of the six seasonal weapons and armor randomly. Also, completing them will earn you a Defiant Key. At the end of the Battleground, a chest will appear, and you can use the received key to open it and get a piece of seasonal gear, as well as the standard Defiant Engram. Additionally, a Resonant version of Defiant weapons can drop from chests. You can even improve what drops from the chest by taking those upgrades at the War Table in the HELM.
So, you’ll get a chance to receive extra War Table reputation, Defiant Engrams or more gear.
Defiant Engrams and Weapon Focusing
Defiant Engrams are a new type of seasonal Engram used to focus seasonal weapons and armor, kept in a special Engram Tracker (received after entering the War Table for the first time) that tells you how many Engrams you have of each type. After you unlock the Defiant Weapon Focusing War Table upgrade, you can focus weapons through the War Table. Spend four Defiant Engrams on any selected weapon or one Defiant Engram for a random weapon.

How to get Caretaker Sword patterns and Deepsight Resonant Weapons
To unlock the pattern for Caretaker Sword and be able to craft it, you should try to get as many Caretaker Swords through Decoding Defiant engrams at War Table as possible. It has a high chance of rewarding you with Deepsight Resonant Weapons, which are used to create patterns for weapon crafting in Destiny 2. You’ll need 5 Deepsight Resonant Weapons (weapons with red frame around the icon) to be able to craft that specific weapon. Take these upgrades to make it easier:
