Cataclysmic PVE God Roll

Destiny 2 Cataclysmic God Roll and How to Get

Welcome to our Destiny 2 Cataclysmic and How to Get guide. The Cataclysmic is a solar precision linear fusion rifle that launched with the release of the Vow of Disciple raid. This linear fusion rifle comes with some great ammo economy perks and one of the highest and easiest to proc damage perks on this archetype. Linear fusion rifles used to be the absolute meta in PVE due to a combination of great damage per second, overall damage, and ammo economy. They have since gotten a slight nerf, but they are still a viable for damage phases. In PVP, they have their usage for a heavy weapon and the ability to one shot head shot any guardian.

Cataclysmic is obtained in the Vow of Disciple raid from the Witch Queen Expansion. Specifically it has a chance to drop from the the first, and second encounters. Once acquired for the first time, it has a chance to drop from the two hidden chest as well. Every drop has a chance to drop with Deepsight Resonance, which can be extracted to unlock the pattern for crafting the weapon. After the final encounter, Rhulk’s Glaive can be interacted with to focus the weapon with Spoils of Conquest provided the weapon has been obtained before and unlocked in collections. Once per week, the first weapon focused this way will have guaranteed Deepsight Resonance.

PVE Cataclysmic God Roll

The following list includes all Destiny 2 Cataclysmic God Roll traits for PVE

Perk 1Fourth Time’s the Charm
Perk 2Bait and Switch
Origin TraitSouldrinker
MasterworkCharge Time
ModBoss Spec

Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with arrowhead break. This will give you better recoil direction giving you a better opportunity to land back to back shots. It also gives a small boost in weapon handling allowing you to swap to this weapon more quickly for damage.

Magazine: Enhanced Battery is the choice for our mag. This gives us one extra shot allowing us to get more usage out of our other perks.

Column 3 Perk: Fourth Times the Charm is the must-have perk here. This generates us two bullets every time we land four precision shots. This perk gives us four free extra shots before needing to reload for a total of 10 shots fired.

Column 4 Perk: For our final column perk, Bait and Switch is the must have. This is a Vow of Disciple weapon exclusive perk that gives a large damage boost for a short time upon hitting the target with each of your weapons.

Masterwork: Charge Time is the choice of masterwork. This increases dps by increasing the rate of fire allowing you to fire more shots within the same amount of time. It does slightly decrease your impact which decreases your overall damage. Since most boss damage phases are short, it’s important to have higher damage per second versus overall damage.

Mod: Boss spec is the only option here. This is a boss damage weapon so we want to give a mod that increases our boss damage.

Conclusion: Linear fusion rifles were a near requirement for any serious PVE player as a boss damage weapon for over a year. A recent nerf has reduced their usage overall but they still make a great weapon for long range boss fights. Should you need something to play safe and still have great ammo economy and damage, Cataclysmic should be your choice.

PVP Cataclysmic God Roll

The following list includes all Destiny 2 Cataclysmic God Roll traits for PVP

Perk 1No Distractions

Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with arrowhead break. This will give you better recoil direction giving you a better opportunity to land back to back shots. It also gives a small boost in weapon handling allowing you to swap to this weapon more quickly for damage.

Magazine: Accelerated Coils are incredibly potent for PVP as they decrease the charge time of the weapon allowing you to fire it faster. This paired with other charge time perks can let the weapon kill insanely fast after starting its charge.

Column 3 Perk: We are going with No Distractions for our third column perk. This gives us a flinch reduction after aiming down sights for a short duration to give us the better chance of landing a one shot kill even if engaged in combat.

Column 4 Perk: For our final column perk, Box Breathing is the must have. This increases our damage falloff range and precision damage after aiming down sights for a short duration.

Masterwork: Following a similar theme with our magazine, we are going with a Charge Time masterwork. This further decreases our charge time letting us fire the weapon faster than your enemies may be prepared for.

Mod: Targeting Adjuster is a great choice here. This gives a small boost in your aim assist making your bullets more likely to hit the target.

Conclusion: Linear fusion rifles are decently strong in PVP due to their one hit kill from nearly any range. They do require a precision shot to kill which can turn off some guardians to their usage. However, you have multiple shots per heavy ammo spawn giving you an opportunity to get multiple kills with one pickup.
