The Cataphract GL3 is an Adaptive Frame Strand Grenade Launcher introduced in Season of the Witch that can be obtained from the Trials of Osiris. This grenade launcher is a powerful option in PvE or PvP. A normal version can be obtained easily enough with some persistent grinding, but an adept version of the weapon can also be earned by completing a Flawless Passage and visiting the Lighthouse.

How to Obtain the Cataphract GL3 in Destiny 2
Cataphract GL3 can be obtained from any Trials of Osiris Reward source, which includes the Weekly challenges for winning 7 matches and winning rounds. It can also randomly drop from Trials engrams. Cataphract GL3 (Adept) can only be earned by completing a flawless Trials of Osiris Passage by winning 7 matches without losing. Once the weapon has been earned you can focus it at Saint-14 for Trials Engrams, Glimmer, and Legendary Shards. The Adept version can only be focused on the Weeks it is the weekly Flawless reward and only with a 7 win Passage.

Cataphract GL3 has some absolute amazing perks for PvE. For its barrel, anything that improves its Velocity is absolutely the best option. A Velocity masterwork will further increase its damage as well. Note that this is true for a Spike Grenade magazine only, which is Best in Slot, but if you get something else, Blast Radius shouldn’t be ignored either.
Now for the hard choices. In Column 3 we have Envious Assassin, Field Prep, and Auto-Loading Holster all looking really good. Auto-Loading is probably the best option in most situations, but Envious Assassin could be great in situations with a lot of adds and a short damage phase. In Column 4, we have both Explosive Light and Bait and Switch. Bait and Switch is better for total damage, but Explosive Light has the edge for burst damage. Either will do just fine.
This Grenade Launcher just pushed Regnant and Wendigo from their thrones, its only downside being its more difficult method of acquisition. Absolutely worth it though.

Another amazing set of perks, make this an absolute monster in PvP as well. For all of its minor perks, do everything you can to get its blast radius up as high as it can go. If you have the Adept version, put on an Adept Blast Radius mod as well.
For its major traits, Impulse Amplifier is probably one of the single best perks on heavy Grenade Launchers right now. Paired with Chain Reaction it can decimate and enemy team with a well placed shot. I can’t recommend this weapon enough.
