The Unwavering Duty is an Adaptive Frame Solar Machine Gun introduced in Season of the Seraph that can be obtained from the Trials of Osiris. This machine gun is a powerful option in PvE. A normal version can be obtained easily enough with some persistent grinding, but an adept version of the weapon can also be earned by completing a Flawless Passage and visiting the Lighthouse.

How to Obtain Unwavering Duty in Destiny 2
Unwavering Duty can be obtained from any Trials of Osiris Reward source, which includes the Weekly challenges for winning 7 matches and winning rounds. It can also randomly drop from Trials engrams. Unwavering Duty (Adept) can only be earned by completing a flawless Trials of Osiris Passage by winning 7 matches without losing. Once the weapon has been earned you can focus it at Saint-14 for Trials Engrams, Glimmer, and Legendary Shards. The Adept version can only be focused on the Weeks it is the weekly Flawless reward and only with a 7 win Passage.
This weapon will be leaving the Trials weekly rotation after the weekend of July 28, 2023, and its Adept version will no longer be obtainable. Its standard version will remain available in the Trials loot pool until the end of Season of the Deep. At that point, the only way to obtain the standard version Unwavering Duty will be through the Legacy Focusing tab at Saint-14. It is unknown if it will ever return to the weekly rotation, but other weapons have returned in the past.
Unwavering Duty PvE God Roll
Column | Trait |
---|---|
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
Magazine | Appended Mag |
Column 3 Trait | Subsistence |
Column 4 Trait | Killing Tally |
Masterwork | Range |
Machine Guns are one of the better options for general PvE as of Season of the Deep. They are great for all content up to and including Grandmaster Nightfalls and Master Raids and Dungeons. While you may need to swap out a Rocket Launcher or Linear Fusion Rifle for boss encounters in raids or dungeons, Machine Guns are still great weapons to have in your arsenal, and Unwavering Duty is a great Solar option.
Barrel options on machine guns in PvE are not as important as the other columns. Anything that improves stability or range is a great option, and Arrowhead Brake is always a great choice for Unwavering Duty. We want to keep putting rounds down range, so we want to improve our magazine size as much as we can as well, although avoid Extended Mag as the Reload Speed penalty is just a bit too punishing. Any masterwork will do, with Range being the best in slot option.
For our primary perk columns, we really have a few options. Subsistence and Auto-Loading Holster are great options for ammo economy in Column 3. In Column 4 though is where the choices really come into play. Firing Line, Killing Tally, and Incandescent are all fantastic options depending on the situation you find yourself in. Killing Tally and Incandescent are great options for add clearing and Firing Line is the king of boss damage phases. Killing Tally overall probably has the most potential for the most situations but your mileage will vary.
Other great Machine Guns to substitute for this weapon in PvE include:
- Circular Logic
- Commemoration
- Terminus Horizon
- Qullim’s Terminus
- Fixed Odds
Unwavering Duty PvP God Roll
Column | Trait |
---|---|
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
Magazine | Ricochet Rounds |
Column 3 Trait | Dynamic Sway Reduction |
Column 4 Trait | Tap the Trigger |
Masterwork | Handling |
Machine Guns are actually a great choice for PvP in the right hands. They allow for multiple kills fairly easily on one heavy ammo pick up. While not the free kill of Rocket Launchers and requiring a bit more skill to use than Heavy Grenade Launchers, Unwavering Duty is still a great option for PvP. Its simple and effective.
For our barrel and magazine options we want to maximize our stability and our range, while also doing what we can for our handling stat. Arrowhead Brake is always a great option on weapons with a lower recoil direction stat. Ignore the Reload stat as it will almost never come into play with in PvP with Machine Guns.
That brings us to our primary perk options for the Unwavering Duty. Machine Guns don’t really want for damage perks or reload perks, as they kill very quickly regardless and there will never be enough ammo to need to do a reload. So your best options are always ones that keep your rounds on target or boost your stats. Unwavering duty comes with the great combo of Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap the Trigger. Tap the Trigger gives a nice boost at the beginning of our trigger pull eventually falling off, but then Dynamic Sway pics up right where it left off.
