D2 Arc Hunter PvP Build

This build has been updated for Season 23, Season of the Wish.

Why Should You Play Arc Hunter in PVP?

PVP Arc Hunter is the epitome of a good offense is a good offense. The object of the subclass is to get in the face of your enemies and slay them before they can even get a shot off. Since this is paired with subclass healing and an AOE debuff on the enemy, it’s hard not to enjoy the Arc Hunter playstyle. Hunters have access to some of the best shutdown supers. Find out all the details on how to craft, create, and optimize our Arc Hunter PVP Build.

Abilities

The best abilities for the Arc Hunter PVP Build are Marksman’s Dodge, Pulse Grenade, and Gathering Storm. The Gathering Storm super is mighty because it can stick in enemies or the ground dealing massive AOE damage and area denial. The Pulse Grenade is incredibly powerful for denying angles or dealing damage around cover. Lastly, our Marksman’s Dodge reloads our currently equipped weapon keeping us in the fight.

Gathering Storm

Marksman’s Dodge

Strafe Jump

Pulse Grenade

Combination Blow

Gathering Storm – A throwable super that can stick in the ground or in an enemy that deals impact damage and damage over time in a large AOE

Marksman's Dodge – Activating this dodge realods your currently equipped weapon

Strafe Jump – A higher single jump with strong directional control

Pulse Grenade – Grenade that pulses over a decent sized area dealing damage to any enemies caught in or near it

Combination Blow – This melee stacks damage every kill, restores a bit of health, and also refreshes your dodge

The most important ability we are using is our Pulse Grenade. This grenade gives us large area denial, can jolt enemies hit due to our fragments, and has great area denial. Also, our Combination Blow is great for securing kills and allowing us to immediately start regenerating health. However, even in PVP abilities that are strong can be swapped due to situational needs. Feel free to experiment with what abilities you prefer to run.

Aspects

The best aspects to use with our Arc Hunter PVP Build are Flow State and Lethal Current. Flow State amplifies us after we jolt a target and gives us a few buffs. Also, Lethal Current buffs our melee after we use our dodge.

Flow State

Lethal Current

Flow State – After killing a jolted target, we become amplified. This gives us a buff in reload speed, and dodge recharge rate. It also pairs with our fragments

Lethal Current – When we dodge, this buffs our melee causing it to jolt targets and cause a massive AOE aftershock

Flow State is essential with this build since it amplifies us giving us bonus movement and reload speed. Lastly, Lethal Current provides us with a significantly more powerful melee with AOE damage.

Fragments

The best fragments for our Arc Hunter PVP Build are the Spark of Haste, Spark of Shock, Spark of Recharge, and Spark of Feedback. Since these provide us with damage resistance, jolt our enemies, regenerate our abilities, and buff our melee.

Spark of Haste

Spark of Shock

Spark of Recharge

Spark of Feedback

Spark of Haste : This provides us with a buff to our resilience, recovery, and mobility while sprinting.

Spark of Shock : This causes our grenades to jolt targets giving us massive AOE damage

Spark of Recharge : When we are ciritically wounded we regenerate abilities faster

Spark of Feedback : After being struck with a melee, this gives us a massive boost in melee damage

Spark of Shock is one of the most important fragments for our build since it can jolt enemies and provide us with buffs by making us amplified. Secondly, Spark of Recharge allows us to regenerate abilities faster after being critically wounded which will happen even if we win trades in PVP. Moreover, Spark of Feeback provides us with a buffed melee after taking melee damage. Lastly, Spark of Haste gives us a boost in resilience, recovery, and mobility while we are sprinting.

Best Weapons

The best weapon combination to use with the Arc Hunter PVP Build is an Igneous Hammerand Conditional Finality. Since these provide the best utility for both good close-range and mid-range engagements. Also, Hand Cannon and Shotgun is one of the highest skill gap weapon combinations and is often preferred by veteran players or those participating in high levels of PVP content.

Weapon Combinations

Below are some additional weapon combinations for our Arc Hunter PVP Build:

  • Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle- Best for good aimers
  • Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle- Best for aggressive players
  • Pulse Rifle and Shotgun- Best for passive players

If you wish to run a different weapon combination, we highly recommend at least running a primary ammo weapon and a special ammo weapon. Running two special weapons will limit your ammo and is not functional. Even though utilizing two primary weapons is doable, you will be at a massive disadvantage due to the strength of special ammo weapons.

Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle

While not as iconic as the hand cannon and shotgun meta that ruled Destiny 2 for many years, the hand cannon and fusion rifle combo is a lethal pairing. You gain the benefit of both mid-range engagements with your hand cannon and close-range bursts with your fusion rifle. This combination is especially powerful for guardians who like the high skill gap of Hand Cannons while providing an easier-to-use special weapon with the Fusion Rifle.

Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle

With both close-range and long-range engagements taken care of with this pairing, however, it is recommended to play very aggressively with this combination. With a submachine gun, you are lethal at close ranges allowing you to contest most weapons within short range. A sniper rifle allows you to clear a lane and push up towards your enemies.

Pulse Rifle & Shotgun

This pairing allows for both long-range and close-range to be secured. Pulse Rifles can out-range most hand cannons while providing a very easy-to-use weapon so they work well with more passive players. Shotguns provide one-shot potential when getting rushed by enemy players that push your position.

Exotic Armor

The best exotic armors to use for Arc Hunter PVP Build are Knucklehead Radar and ST0MP-EE5. Within PVP, the best exotics are often neutral exotics that work without requirements like subclass or build synergy.

Often, movement and passive exotics are preferred over exotics that require a specific gameplay loop to be effective as these can be hard to maintain in a PVP environment. So Exotics like Knuckhead Radar and ST0MP-EES are great because they provide massive passive benefits like movement and constant radar without needing outside assistance from abilities or builds. For example, Knucklehead Radar provides radar and minimap even while aiming down sights, visually marks targets, provides extra damage to low-health marked targets, and provides a small boost in airborne effectiveness of all weapons. Also, ST0MP-EE5 increases your sprint speed and slide distance, improves your jumps, and gives a slight boost in damage reduction while airborne.

Armor Stats

The best stats to focus on in our Arc Hunter PVP Build are Mobility, Intellect, and Recovery. Since these provide us with survivability, reduce our class ability cooldown, and reduce our super cooldown.

  • Mobility: 100
  • Resilience: 30
  • Recovery: 100
  • Disciple: 50
  • Intellect: 50
  • Strength: 30

Armor Mods

The best armor mods for our Arc Hunter PVP Build are Targeting Mods, Dexterity Mods, and Unflinching Mods. Since these build into how well our weapons perform in combat they are of the highest priority.

Head
Arm
Chest
Leg
Class

While we have kinetic weapon mods and arc weapon mods, you should adjust these depending on your weapon choices. So make sure to swap these mods to match your weapon energy types.

Gameplay Tips

This Arc Hunter PVP Build is about using our abilities to provide passive buffs while destroying our enemies. Our entire kit is designed around moving around the battlefield while ensuring we return to combat as soon as possible. This build doesn’t have a lot of healing outside of the slight healing our combination blow provides so playing your life will be incredibly important.

Our weapons aren’t the only powerful weapons we have in the kit. Our grenade is quite powerful and we can get it back due to our fragments. Also, our super is fantastic as a shutdown super and has a major area of effect. This makes it capable of massive single-target damage or useful for area denial.
