Strand Warlock Playstyle
Firstly, cast your Rift so you get your Threadlings to spawn. If they cannot find a target, they will return to you and stay with you until you either shoot a target or recast your rift to release all of them. Use your melee to kill an enemy to create a tangle. With this, you can throw the tangle and grapple while it’s flying. If you get enough momentum, you can use the new strand melee ability that costs 0 energy and does extra damage to an enemy. Your grapple will be refunded if you use it on a tangle. If a grapple is used and no tangle is there to latch onto, you will not get your grapple back.
Your weapons should be used to quickly finish an enemy when you hit them with your melee. The warlock ranged melee Arcane Needle Unravels the target making it spew this green needles that seek out other targets or focus the target that the needles came out of. Combine a high rate of fire weapons to make the target spew out more needles.
Abilities
To get the Strand subclass, you must own Ligthfall expansion and complete the entire main campaign to get access to all abilities. Additionally, to unlock Strand aspects and fragments, players must buy them from the special vendor, the Pouka Pond, with new currency.
Needlestorm – This is our super ability. When you cast this you will go up in the air and fire very strong homing needles at your enemy. When they land they will blow up and Spawn a Threadling that will seek out your target to deal aditional damage.
Healing Rift – This is our class ability that will keep us and our teamates alive. While standing inside you get an overshield if you have full health.
Burst Glide – This is the best warlock movement ability since it helps you move faster. Warlock jump will keep your momentum so if you are falling down you will not go up.
Grapple – Our main movement tool to help us get around the map faster.
Arcane Needle – This melee comes with 3 charges and will track your enemy.
Aspects
Weaver’s Call – Cast your Rift to weave three Threadlings and deploy any Threadlings you have perched.
Mindspun Invocation – Your grapple, Shackle Grenade, and Threadling Grenade have enhanced functionality. Your grapple melee spawns three Threadling eggs. [Grenade] : Hold to consume your Shackle Grenade and activate Weaver’s Trance. Final blows while Weaver’s Trance is active create a suspending detonation. [Grenade] : Hold to consume your Threadling Grenade and immediately generate five perched Threadlings
Fragments
Thread of Ascent : Activating your grenade ability reloads your equipped weapon and grants bonus airborne effectiveness and handling for a short duration.
Thread of Binding : Super final blows emit a suspending burst from the target.
Thread of Generation : Dealing damage generates grenade energy.
Thread of Isolation : Landing rapid precision hits emits a severing burst from the target.
Weapons
The best weapon combination with the Strand Warlock PvP Build is an Igneous Hammer and Conditional Finality. Since these provide the best utility for both good close-range and mid-range engagements. Also, the hand cannon and shotgun are among the weapon combinations with the highest skill gaps and are often preferred by veteran players or those participating in high levels of PVP content.
Weapon Combinations
Below are some additional weapon combinations for our Strand Warlock PvP Build:
- Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle – Best for good aimers
- Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle – Best for aggressive players
- Pulse Rifle and Shotgun – Best for passive players
If you wish to run a different weapon combination, we highly recommend at least running a primary ammo weapon and a special ammo weapon. Running two special weapons will limit your ammo and is not functional. Even though utilizing two primary weapons is doable, you will be at a massive disadvantage due to the strength of special ammo weapons.
Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle
While not as iconic as the hand cannon and shotgun meta that ruled Destiny 2 for many years, the hand cannon and fusion rifle combo is lethal. You benefit from mid-range engagements with your hand cannon and close-range bursts with your fusion rifle. This combination is potent for guardians who like the high skill gap of hand cannons, and it provides an easier-to-use special weapon with the Fusion Rifle.
Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle
With close-range and long-range engagements taken care of with this pairing, however, playing very aggressively with this combination is recommended. With a submachine gun, you are lethal at close ranges, allowing you to contest most weapons within short range. A sniper rifle lets you clear a lane and push up towards your enemies.
Pulse Rifle & Shotgun
This pairing allows for both long-range and close-range to be secured. Pulse Rifles can out-range most hand cannons while providing a very easy-to-use weapon, so they work well with more passive players. Shotguns provide one-shot potential when getting rushed by enemy players that push your position.
Exotic Armor
Transversive Steps – As your first option you want to use these boots for more mobility and will reload your weapons when you reload.
Ophidian Aspect – Your second option for exotic revovles around buffing your main stats with the weapon like reloading and handling. This exotic will help you with that.
Armor Stats
The best stats to focus on in our Strand Warlock PvP Build are Recovery, Discipline, and Resilience.
- Mobility: 20
- Resilience: 70
- Recovery: 100
- Disciple: 100
