Character Creation Overview

Character Creation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 uses photogrammetry technology to increase photorealism while creating your protagonist, the arisen and main pawn, arisen’s loyal companion. This technology is also used to simplify or even speed up character creation. Capcom introduced a 3-steep intuitive process. By selecting the heads that most resemble the look you have in mind, you can quickly create the base head to customize further, or if you are happy with the result, accept it and start the game. If you dive into details and change every little part of your character’s face and body, many options exist.

Customization Options – Appearance

There are many customization options to adjust your Arisen and main pawn’s appearance from body to face features. We don’t know all the options yet, but a recent tweet from Capcom provided a sneak peek into the Character Creation Menu.

Players can customize character creation by adjusting the Body, Height, Weight, Limb Size, Muscles, Head, Skin, Eyes, Nose, Ears, Cheeks, Mouth, and Jaw/Chin. Each of those categories can be adjusted further. For example, Ear options include style, size, angle, openness, tilt, tips, and lobes.

It’s worth noting that in Dragon’s Dogma 2, in character creation, players can also design a new beast race, humanoids covered with fur, and cat face features. You will have additional options for changing fur, pattern colors, and color thickness for this race.

As you can see in the images above, we can expect over 50 different sliders and appearance customization options, but how will it influence the gameplay?

Will Character Creation Features (weight and height) Affect Gameplay?

Dragon's Dogma 2 - Pawns Personality
Pawns have different Personalities

Yes, in Dragon’s Dogma 2, character weight and height affect the gameplay, and depending on what settings you choose, each has advantages and disadvantages. In the first game of the series, lighter characters couldn’t carry as much as heavier characters and could be knockbacked more easily. However, their light frame allows them to recover stamina fast and climb easily. Small characters could fit into small areas. And tall could pass the water without being drenched.

We don’t know if those features in the exact same way show will be in the new Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, if you look closely at the character creation screen, you can quickly notice the character “weight” on the screen. That tells us that at least some of those mechanics will be integrated into this new Capcom game.

Vocations and Main Pawn Personality

In addition to appearance, you will also need to decide your Arisen Vocation. Also, when creating your main Pawn, you will pick a vocation for them and their personality that will reflect what type of person they are and what skills and specialization they can provide to the Arisen.

Here are all available pawn inclinations:

  • Kindhearted: Compassionate, devoted, and dutiful. Most obedient. Quick to aid in need.
  • Calm: Rational, Shewd, and strategizing. Employs clever tactics to survive at all costs.
  • Simple: Curious, earnest, and adventurous. Enjoys exploring and gathering items.
  • Straightforward: Cnadin, flippant, and impulsive. Enjoys the thrill of combat, tackling fierce foes heads-on with daring assaults.
