The developers at Zenimax Online Studios have been working on a new game launcher for ESO, and they are getting ready to release it on the public test server for players to use. While visually the new launcher will look and function very similarly to the old one players are very familiar with, this new update will provide a lot of quality improvements on the back end. The most notable changes include:
Patching and installing is faster, more efficient, and has less patching steps. The launcher will also more consistently catch invalid file issues and offer to repair them.
Error messaging presents clearer details on internal launcher issues.
Resolution scaling, including 4K support
Official ZOS Post
ZOS has also included an estimated calendar of testing and future rollout phases. The beta launcher is available for testing for PC players as of today. There is currently no set end date for this testing phase, as it will likely be determined by the amount of issues the launcher runs into. After testing, the second phase will be a limited rollout of the new launcher limited to specific countries. Followed by a full rollout to all PC players worldwide.
This official ZOS post outlines all of these details and more, along with detailed instructions on how to access the new beta launcher on the PTS, should you wish to help them test it.
