The awaited Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hardcore Mode is finally releasing on April 15, 2025. The official X account for KCD 2 announced the upcoming update on April 7, 2025. Alongside this announcement, we have some more details on our hands, such as difficulty, changes, and various perks.

According to Warhorse Studios, the Hardcore Mode was always planned to be a part of KCD 2’s roadmap, and they have finally reached a point where they can let gamers experience it for the first time. So, in this article, we will discuss everything revealed about the KCD 2 hardcore mode.

The Hardcore Mode in Kingdom Deliverance 2 is on the horizon. The developers aim to provide increased difficulty, a slicker UI, and a test of skill for every player who wants to explore medieval Bohemia. For many, this update will be reminiscent of the game design of any Soulsborne games. However, that is certainly not the case. Warhorse Studio’s primary goal with the hardcore mode is to provide an authentic experience that reflects the brutality and adversities of medieval times alongside adding a new way of enjoying the game.

The PC players got to experience a developer version of the Hardcore Mode before, and even though the developers are keeping their cards close to their chest still, we can safely say that the console consumer will get to share the joy of PC players soon enough.

However, it is still too early to tell how much the official hardcore mode will resemble the developer edition. Furthermore, the following are the changes the hardcore mode will bring:

  • Reduced UI both in and out of combat
  • Disabled Fast Travel
  • Disabled Auto-Save
  • Player position on the map of KCD 2 not marked
  • Compass Does Not Show Cardinal Directions
  • Players must choose three negative perks as permanent penalties that will remain throughout the playthrough

All of the negative perks in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s Hardcore Mode are primarily the same as the ones we saw in the developer version on PC. Warhorse Studios has not released any statement saying that they will change the perks or add new ones.

For your convenience, we have listed all of the perks in the hardcore mode of KCD 2 below:

  • Bad Back: You will be restricted to carrying fewer items than usual, and you might strain your back when you bend to pick something up.

  • Bashful: You won’t be able to ask people for directions, which would make navigation slightly more inconvenient. Additionally, Henry will be shy around women, and the speed of gaining Speech Skill will be slower.

  • Hungry Henry: Starving will reduce your Speech, Charisma, and Intimidation alongside the usual debuffs. Your digestion rate will also increase 50%, while food will fill you 20% less.

  • Heavy-Footed: Henry will make more noise while moving, and his shoes will wear down quicker than usual.

  • Menace: If you get caught for a crime, the effect won’t go away, and you will be executed if you get caught for any other serious crimes. The guards will also punish you more strictly and with more intense consequences.

  • Numbskull: 20% less Experience gain time

  • Picky Eater: All food in your inventory will be spoiled 25% faster. You will also get only half the meat after gutting an animal.

  • Punchable Face: Meeting travelers on the road is more dangerous, and you will also get into fights more often. Additionally, enemies won’t surrender to you and will be more confident.

  • Somnabulant: You lose energy faster. Also, every time you sleep, you might start to sleepwalk.

  • Sweaty: You get dirty faster, and you start to smell faster as well. You will get detected quickly because of the stench as well. Perfumes won’t work on you.
