Chum is the Jack of all Trades in FragPunk. He can place traps, block vision, and place explosives all around the map. The versatility of his kit makes him different from other lancers in the game. Chum’s Abilities in FragPunk
Just like other lancers, Chum also has three abilities. Each ability has a different use depending on the situation. Let’s take a look at them:
- Chomper: Release Chum’s best friend, Chomper! Chomper patrols the designated areas and will chase down enemies to bite them. He is destructible. You can feed Chomper different baits to make him enter different modes.
- Explosive Bait: Place explosive bait that sticks to walls and explodes when triggered. When Chomper is fed this bait, he enters Explosive Mode and follows Chum, charging enemies to explode on contact.
- Smoking Bait: Throw bait that generates smoke when it hits the ground or collides with a surface. When Chomper is fed this bait, he enters Smoke Mode and starts releasing a constant stream of smoke. Holding the fire button lets you control Chomper’s direction.

Chum’s Playstyle in FragPunk
When looking at his kit, some players do get confused for the first time, and that’s okay. For starters, Chum is played as an initiator in FragPunk. When you equip Chomper, you get three options: deploy, explosive bait, and smoking bait. When Chomper is deployed, he simply chases enemies, which helps in catching opponents off guard.
On the other hand, when you equip Chomper with explosive bait, he stays with you and attacks enemies once spotted. Moreover, you can place this bait as a trap to cover choke points or flanks. The same process is associated with smoke bait.
Both baits work as throwable objects as well as Chomper food. This trick is to use these baits according to the situation. Additionally, here are some tips that might help you in winning a match using Chum:
- When attacking a site, deploy Chomper to catch enemies. This way your team can attack enemies more precisely.
- Sometimes it’s a good thing to place an Explosive Bait as a trap to detect lurks. Moreover, it can also help in denying enemies from defusing the converter.
- Smoke Bait is useful in both ways, so use it according to your team composition and map.
