Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world introduced in the Harry Potter books. It’s quite easily one of the 2023 most highly-anticipated games. The game takes place at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1800s. Players can create their own Wizard or Witch and explore the magical open world, attend classes, fly on magical creatures, fight casting spells, make potions and much more.
Just like in any RPG open-world game in Hogwarts Legacy players will be able to collect resources in order to craft gear, potions and multiple magical items. Therefore plants are crucial in the game to craft magical potions and make your character more powerful. Today, Developers tweeted about the next and probably one of the most interesting magical plants, the Mandrake Seedling.
What is Mandrake?
A Mandrake, also known as Mandragora, is a magical plant with long leaves and a root that looks like a baby human. When matured and pulled out from the soil, Mandrake starts to cry and listening to it could be fatal to any person who hears it. However, a young Mandrake’s screams will knock a person out for several hours.
Students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry learn about Mandrakes during the second and third-year Herbology classes, taught by Professor Mirabel Garlick.
Herbology is the wizards’ version of botany, thus it’s one of the core subjects taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. During the classes, students learn to care for and utilise plants, and fungi, primarily about their magical properties and what they are used for. Many magical plants provide ingredients for potions and medicine, while others had magical effects of their own right.

Professor Mirabel Garlick was born and grew up between Muggles. As a result, she felt as if she “bloomed” in Hogwarts and finally felt at home. She is described as a charming and caring teacher with flowery language. I can’t wait to meet this sympathetic-looking lady with beautiful hair and a sunny smile.
What is the Mandrake Seedling used for in Hogwarts Legacy
from the latest Twitter post, we learned that Mandrake Seedlings can be used to “stun and harm enemies in a radius”. Also, according to Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter book series, Mandrake was used to “return people who have been transfigured or cursed to their original state”.

Players will be able to grow mandrake in their Room of Requirements, also other various plants. Also, players will be able to brew potions from those plants and use them in combat or during world exploration.
