The Checkmate mission in Black Ops 6 wraps up the game’s campaign. Here’s how to finish it and what to expect upon completion.
Checkmate Mission is not on the Evidence Board because it is deeply intertwined with the Separation Anxiety mission. While Separation Anxiety starts before it, there are three episodes/phases in both of the missions that take place one after the other.
As Frank Woods struggles to keep Jane Harrow on track with the Separation drug experiment, Case and the rest of them defend The Rook.
A large group of Pantheon soldiers attack from different directions as you kill them to be the last men standing. The objectives are pretty close-ended, not leaving much room for creativity. Let us help you by breaking things down even further.
Checkmate the Pantheon Forces
Checkmate (The First Phase)
After collecting two mirror shards as Jane Harrow, the focus shifts back to William “Case” Calderon. The Pantheon is now at your doorstep for you to fight them off. Gear up, head outside with all the team members except Woods, and prepare for the attack by placing spring mines on the road ahead.
Return to the main door and wait for Pantheon riot shields. You can detonate the C4 closest to them by holding the prompt button. Be careful not to waste these charges because you will need them later when enemies come from specific directions.
At last, there will be an APC truck. Move back to the main road, face the APC, and there will be a rocket launcher on the table on your right. Grab it and shoot the APC with it to destroy it for good. Clear out the remaining enemies and this sequence will end.
Checkmate: Detonation
This sequence picks off after Jane Harrow gains possession of the third mirror shard in Separation Anxiety: Lies. Use mortar strike to bring down the chopper ahead of you. Now you are at the back of the building, and enemies will be taking cover behind bushes, trees, and natural ridges.
Once the forces are clearing out, head to the shed shown in the image with Adler. Pick up the sentry guns and place them either in front of the shed or behind it. These sentry guns will help you take out Pantheon faster.
After you are done, you will get a distress call from Woods claiming that the enemies have penetrated the mansion. This means that they are infiltrating from the front while you and your team are busy handling the backyard. Make your way through the house. Be wary of a couple of armored soldiers inside, along with some regular ones.
Kill them and make your way to the front of The Rook. Now, Felix Neuman will suggest blowing up the bridge to stop the Pantheon forces. Accompany him to the bridge ahead and cover him as he plants charges. Regardless of how well you protect him, Felix will be shot at the end. No worries, go up to him and interact when the prompt appears. Drag him back while shooting the forces.
Another armored vehicle will be charging at you, but Felix will do the rest of the job.
Checkmate: Black Sea
There will be another distress call from Frank Woods. Kill some more enemies coming out of the building. Keep moving forward. Woods will be lying down outside the Evidence Board room.
Jane Harrow has escaped! Run after her with Troy Marshall. He will snipe her from a distance but will be injured in the process. Run up to the helicopter in which she is trying to escape. There will be two Pantheon soldiers in your way. Don’t bother stopping to shoot them. Keep running and hip-shoot if you can. If you make it in time, jump on to the helicopter.
There will be a few Quick Time Events (QTE). Complete them successfully to put Jane Harrow down and save Washington, D.C.
Rewards and Challenges in the Checkmate Mission
The Checkmate mission is not on the evidence board so there is no sure way of knowing what its completion rewards you. However, since it’s intertwined with the Separation Anxiety mission, their reward might be the same, which happens to be a Charm that you can use in multiplayer.
As for the challenges, the developers have listed out one on the Evidence Board while you are launching Separation Anxiety. The challenge name is Fatal Variety. It asks you to get a kill with 12 different weapons in Checkmate. So, you can only complete it while playing as Case.
This level holds no secrets because it is essentially wrapping up the story. We hope you found our walkthroughs useful. Stick around for more guides on Black Ops 6 and other new and upcoming games.
