The Last Rites is the second last main quest of the main story in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Moreover, it is also the very first quest that players will get to play as a prologue of the game. So, you will get to play this quest two times in KCD2. However, the quest in the prologue is a little bit shorter, and hard to understand what is actually going on. As you progress in the story and witness the siege, you will get the whole idea of the things.
The Last Rites quest begins automatically after completing the Reckoning quest in which you actually kill or spare Markvart von Aulitz as Henry. After Henry has gone to get help, you will then control Godwin to defend Suchdol until Henry returns.

You will be playing as Godwin in the Last Rites quest and there are not any certain preparations that you can do beforehand. All you have to do is follow the main objectives to defend the fortress from different ramparts until Henry returns with reinforcements.
How to complete Last Rites Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
The Last Rites is a simple quest requiring you to defend the fortress by completing the main objectives. You will have to defend the fortress from the front ramparts, in the courtyard, and from the west ramparts. Moreover, if you are pursuing this quest at the end of the game, then you will have a few more interactions before the siege starts and get to witness an extended cutscene than at the start of the game.
Here are all the main objectives that you must complete during the Last Rites quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
1. Drink/Celebrate with Capon
As the Last Rites quest begins, you will be in a conversation with Capon. You will get a couple of dialogue options here but both of them will pursue drinking with Capon. Simply, go through the dialogue options and a few drinking sequences to continue ahead.
NOTE: This drinking sequence is not in the prologue of the game.
2. Find out what happened
After sleeping off your drunkenness, you will wake up to a loud bang. Go out of the room and head down the tower to the courtyard to start a cutscene. Now, if you are starting new, then it will be the first time seeing the cutscene. However, if you are at the end of the story, then you will get to witness the same attack again as in the prologue of the game.
3. Go up the stairs to the front ramparts
After the cutscene, go up the stairs in front of you to reach the front ramparts of the fortress. Aim with the crossbow and start shooting the soldiers below. Upon shooting a few soldiers, you will get a call to defend the gate.
Help defend the gate in the courtyard
Now, head back down to the courtyard and aim at the main gate to shoot the soldiers with the crossbow. It does not matter if you miss the shots, because all the soldiers will get drowned in flames.
Follow the commander Dry Devil and knock down the ladder
Now, follow the commander Dry Devil up to the southwest ramparts. Upon reaching the ramparts, take down any enemy soldier up on the ramparts. After that, interact with the ladder to knock it down.
Doing so will trigger the cutscene where Hans will get shot in the shoulder. You will most probably have seen this cutscene, especially if you are at the end of the storyline. However, this time you will get to witness a long cutscene. The fortress will get overrun by the enemy soldiers and the survivors will barricade in the tower. While the situation is looking hopeless, Henry turns up with all the allied Lords for the rescue.
As the cutscene ends, the Last Rites quest ends and the Judgement Day quest begins. It is the final quest of the storyline in which you will take back Suchdol. However, if you complete this quest in the prologue, the Easy Riders quest begins which is the first main story quest in KCD2.

- Take out any soldier that comes up the ladder first.
- While defending the fortress from the front ramparts, shoot any soldier you see with your crossbow.
- You can hold your shooting in the courtyard, as the soldiers will get drowned in fire eventually.
- Focus on knocking down the ladders on the southwest ramparts to trigger the final cutscene.
