Players looking for Lamenting Underground in Throne and Liberty must make their way to the Cave of Desperation Co-op Dungeon.
As you trudge through Solisium, talking to NPCs and picking up quests, you will come across the researcher Paola, who will send you to a few dungeons in search of her journal. One of the objectives of this Chapter 4 Adventure Codex quest will require you to visit the Lamenting Underground, but you will not really find this location on the map. Instead, you have to head to the Cave of Desperation.
In this guide, we shall go over the Lamenting Underground, how it ties to the Cave of Desperation, and how you can enter it.
How To Enter the Cave of Desperation
The objective asking you to visit Lamenting Underground is likely a translation error, as you have to visit the Cave of Desperation to progress in the quest. The prior two dungeons that Paola sends you to are co-op dungeons, whereas Lamenting Underground is not a dungeon, further supporting the translation error point.
To progress in the quest, select the Cave of Desperation from the Co-op Dungeon screen. The dungeon has a level 40 requirement and further requires a Minimum Combat Power of 1200. Make sure you meet these requirements before you take on the dungeon. Choose Party Matchmaking or take on solo (depends on your preference) and click Enter to begin the dungeon.
How To Find Paola’s Research Journal
Inside the dungeon, your objective is simple: Find Paola’s Research Journal. Thankfully, this objective is easy to complete as the journal is found very early into the Cave of Desperation dungeon. The journal can be found just past the first room.
Follow straight along the path of the dungeon till you reach a cliff. Grapple up the cliff and deal with the Ants ahead. The roof of the dungeon will cave in, and the wall will crumble, revealing a new pathway. Walk straight and past a bonfire towards the left till you will find Mutant Acid/Explosive Ant Larvae. Paola’s research journal will be on the left of this room, near a few Ant eggs.
Retrieving the journal will complete Paola’s quest and the Chapter 4 of Adventure Codex. Completing this Codex Quest will grant you 5,539 Sollant, a Rare Active Skill Growth Book and a Rare Passive Skill Growth Book.
