Baldur’s Gate 3 features a variety of weapons to pick from, each with its own perks and pitfalls. As you progress through the game, you obtain new weapons either by crafting or by exploring the world. The Adamantine weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3 are some of the strongest weapons found in the game, not because of their stats, but more so because of the perks and actions they enable. There are three Adamantine weapons in the game: Adamantine Scimitar, Adamantine Longsword, and Adamantine Mace. These weapons have different perks that make them ideal for certain sets of enemies.

This guide will go over the Adamantine Scimitar weapon, how to obtain it, and its features.

What is Adamantine Scimitar in Baldur’s Gate 3

The Adamantine Scimitar is one of the few Adamantine equipment found in the game and is also part of the Scimitar weapon lineage. The weapon comes boosted with a +1 enchantment after you craft it. This Rare (blue) weapon can only be crafted at the Adamantine Forge in the Underdark and cannot be found anywhere else in the world. This rare Scimitar is perfect against enemies resistant to slashing damage, much like the Adamantine Longsword.

The one-handed weapon’s description in the game reads like this:

“Each cut of this blade shines with the wicked glint of adamantine — a promise for a devastating blow.”

Features of Adamantine Scimitar in Baldur’s Gate 3

Adamantine Scimitar, much like the other Adamantine weapons, is a Rare (blue) weapon. The weapon is one-handed and has a +1 weapon enchantment. The weapon comes with two bonus effects:

  • Diamondsbane: The Adamantine Scimitar automatically critical hits an object.
  • Lethal Weapon: The weapon also ignores slashing damage resistance.

Gaining proficiency with the Adamantine Scimitar unlocks two other skills. The first is Flourish, which allows you to feint an attack to throw an enemy off-guard. The second is the Lacerate, which deals high damage and inflicts the Bleed status effect on enemies.

Steps to get Adamantine Scimitar in BG3

You can craft the Adamantine Scimitar at the Adamantine Forge in the Underdark. You will require the Scimitar Mould and a Mithral ore to craft the Rare weapon. There are only two Mithral ores in the game, so you have to be wise about how you choose to use them.

How to Get the Scimitar Mould

Spawn in at the Ancient Forge waypoint and take the path on the left towards the edge of the cliff where you find the Splint Mould. Parkour across the gap ahead and follow the path north till you reach a dead end. On your right, you will see a golden altar with a pit ahead. Jump across the gap and head up the terrain towards the south. A skeleton lies atop the staircase in front of you. Loot the body to retrieve the Scimitar Mould.

How to Get the Mithral Ores

You can obtain Mithral ores by mining them from Mithral Veins in the Underdark. The first Mithral Vein is southeast of the Ancient Forge waypoint in Grymforge, which is down a flight of stairs. This path will diverge to the left towards broken stairs. Follow the path and parkour past gaps to reach the first Mithral Vein.

Now, fast travel back to the Ancient Forge waypoint, head right and continue the path along the edge of the cliff. Parkour past gaps, and you will reach the second Mithral Vein. You have to use bludgeoning weapons to damage the Mithral Veins and subsequently mine the ores.

What is the Use of Adamantine Scimitar?

The Adamantine Scimitar shares traits similar to the Adamantine Longsword and is best used against enemies that are resistant to slashing damage. These enemies include Balthazar, Apostle of Myrkul, Gilded Imp, Greaseball, Grym, and many more. The weapon inflicts the Bleed status effect, allowing you to hit an enemy and lay back for the Bleed to complete the job.
