What are the Cerebral Citadel Gloves in BG3?

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Cerebral Citadel Gloves are an armour piece that any class or companion can use to gain a buff whenever an enemy is Charmed or Frightened. This buff will give you an additional 1d4 bonus to any attack rolls you make against the target. Moreover, it will also give you the same bonus on Saving Throws from attacks made by that target. Additionally, wearing these gloves will also give you a +1 to all Strength Saving Throws.

In BG3, Charmed is a condition where the target is rendered incapable of targeting the spellcaster. Furthermore, the spellcaster also will gain Advantage on any Charisma Checks in dialogue. The Charmed condition can come from several different sources, but the spell Charm Person is the most common. It is available Bards, Druids, Sorcerers, Warlocks, Wizards, and Trickery Domain Clerics at Level 1.

Finally, the Frightened condition will freeze a target in place. They will be unable to move and will also have Disadvantage on all attack and saving rolls.

How to Get the Cerebral Citadel Gloves in BG3?

To get the Cerebral Citadel Gloves in BG3 you must discover the Knights of the Shield Hideout underneath the Elfsong Tavern, then press a hidden button to open the secret door that leads into the Emperor’s old hideout. Finally, you can find the Cerebral Citadel Gloves and Armour inside the wardrobe on the east side of the room.

Step 1- Find the Elfsong Tavern Basement

The Elfsong Tavern is west of the Basilisk Gate waypoint in the Lower City, just past the Stormshore Tabernacle. From the front entrance, walk into the back kitchen area. On the west side, you will find some stairs leading down to a basement door. You have to highlight and click on the Wooden Stairs to go down into the basement. Trying to click directly on the door won’t work.

Step 2- Find the Secret Entrance in the Elfsong Tavern Basement

Next, you’ll have to fight a group of rats down in the basement. Then, you’ll want to go to the left/west to find a smaller room lined with wine racks. Towards the back, near a hole on the right side, you should find a Button. Seeing it will require you or a companion to pass a Perception check.

Press it and through the hole in the wall, you should see the door to a wine barrel swing open. Head inside, and you’ll find another door at the bottom of some stairs. This will take you directly into the Knights of the Shield Hideout.

Step 3- The Knights of the Shield Hideout

Inside the Knights of the Shield Hideout, you will find a group of Githyanki warriors. Try to sneak up in Stealth to gain a bit of Advantage for this fight, if you can. Additionally, you’ll want to take out the casters opening portals for new Githyanki to come through. Otherwise, this fight can be frustrating.

There is one portal and caster each on either side of the room. You should have high Strength melee characters jump instead of running around and up the stairs. Or make good use of the Misty Step spell to get close quickly.

Step 3- Find the Emperor’s Hidden Room

After the Githyanki have been dealt with, head north towards the statue at the back of the room. Move into the space behind it and a successful Perception check should reveal a button. Press this button and a secret doorway will open nearby. Inside is the Emperor’s hideout, with several mementos and a few pieces of gear scattered throughout.

You can find the Cerebral Citadel Gloves (and Armour) inside the Emperor’s Wardrobe on the left/east-hand side of the room.

How to Use Cerebral Citadel Gloves in BG3?

The best way to use the Cerebral Citadel Gloves in BG3 is by equipping them to a spellcaster class. The best classes would be Bards, Druids, Sorcerers, Warlocks, Wizards, and Trickery Domain Clerics. This is because they can all learn the Charm Person spell at Level 1. Charm Person can inflict the Charmed condition on any humanoid creature that fails the Wisdom saving throw. The condition can last for a maximum of 10 turns, or until you or an ally attack the Charmed creature.

Additionally, if you cast Charm Person at a higher spell level, you can select an additional target per level. Consequently, you could potentially inflict Charmed on more than one enemy. However, doing so would not be necessary for the Cerebral Citadel Gloves buff. You need only successfully Charm or Frighten one enemy, and then when you next attack them you will get the 1d4 bonus damage.
