The Cindermoth Cloak

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Cindermoth Cloak is an uncommon armor piece. Each time enemies attack the wearer within 2m, they will receive the burning status effect. It’s a decent defensive and, at the same time, offensive bonus. However, the 2m range is small, and foes must attack you practically from the melee range for it to be effective.

As a result, this may prove fantastic on all front-line characters such as Barbarian, Fighter, Paladin, Monk, or even melee Rogue or Bard. The Cindermoth Cloak doesn’t have any requirements, so it can be used on any class, race, character, and companion and be helpful to all of them in some scenarios.

The Cindermoth Cloak features in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • Type: Cloak
  • Requirements: None
  • Weight: 0.5 kg
  • Value: 70
  • Rarity: Uncommon
  • Location: Can be looted from Aelis Siryasius (X: -144 Y: 835) in the Lower City Sewers, Act 3
  • Bonuses:
    • Flaming Shroud: A creature that damages the wearer within 2 m / 7 ft receives Burning
  • All Classes and Companions can Use This Item

Once you enter the sewers, you may land in different parts depending on the entrance you choose. Regardless, head to the central part, where canals filled with green-polluted water are in the middle of the sewers. Aelis Siryasius, who has the Cindermoth Cloak, is in the center of the map.

Once you approach Aelis Siryasius (X: -144 Y: 835), you will also notice his minions, Minor and Minor Grease Elementals. As Aelis claims, he can speak with them and understand them. He won’t be hostile at first, so you can speak with him to learn that he also mourns the death of his friend Sarin, who is suspiciously missing a skull. You can find Sarin’s skeleton without a head in the open coffer beside the locked iron gate.

If you try to lockpick the gate and steal from the chest inside, Aelis Siryasius will instantly attack you. He is a Sorcerer who uses a lot of fire damage and spells, which can be challenging with his grease elements. While his minions will throw grease on the ground, he will set it on fire, dealing massive AoE damage. Focus on defeating him first, and don’t let them surprise you.

If you sneak closer and attack first unnoticed, your enemies will become Surprised and forced to skip the first turn, which will give you a massive advantage at the start to eliminate the most potent enemies.

After you defeat Aelis Siryasius loot his body to get Cindermoth Cloak in BG3.
