In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Gloves of the Growling Underdog are a great pair of early game gloves which can be earned in Act 1 – this Guide explains everything you need to know about the Gloves of the Growling Underdog in BG3.
Gloves of the Growling Underdog
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Gloves of the Growling Underdog are a really good early game set of gloves for a variety of classes. They provide an overall +1 boost to Strength Saving Throws. What really sets them apart, however is the Underdog’s Bravery bonus feature. When surrounded by 2 or more foes the wearer gains Advantage on melee attack rolls. This makes it a great gear piece for your frontline, melee damage party member. Whoever is going to be in the thick of battle and relying on Strength as their primary ability score should definitely seek out these gloves.
We recommend the Gloves of the Growling Underdog for the following builds: Way of Four Elements, Way of Shadow or Way of Open Hand Monk, College of Swords Bard, Oath of Ancients Paladin, Oath of Devotion Paladin

How to Get Gloves of the Growling Underdog in Baldur’s Gate 3
In order to get the Gloves of the Growling Underdog you’ll need to first defeat one of the goblin leaders named Dror Ragzlin in order to get the key to his treasure stash. Dror Ragzlin is one of the three leaders of the Goblins. You’ll need to travel to the Goblin Camp and make your way past the guards outside through either combat or dialogue responses.
You’ll then need to enter the Shattered Sanctum. You can find the Hobgoblin Dror Ragzlin in a large throne room area to the north west of the Sanctum. He’ll be attempting to speak to a dead Mind Flayer. More importantly, he’ll have an audience of goblins who will turn hostile whenever you choose to attack.
Depending on your story choice (are you supporting the Druid Grove or the Goblins?) there are two ways to get the Key to the treasure room from Dror Ragzlin:
- Loot the key from his dead body.
- This obviously requires fighting him and all the others in the room, at the very least. Be careful, because if there are other goblins outside the room nearby they may raise the alarm and bring more combatants inside.
- Pickpocket the key from him.
- This will require proficiency in the Sleight of Hand skill. Additionally, with all of the onlookers it may be tough to crouch and sneak up behind him without any of the others seeing you.
Once you have the key from Dror Ragzlin, you’ll find the locked Iron Gate to the treasure room back up behind the central throne area where the hobgoblin was standing. Go around back up the stairs behind him and you should find the locked gate set back a little ways in the center. Once you’re inside, interact with the treasure pile to find the Gloves of the Growling Underdog.
