What is the Hamarhaft in BG3?

In Baldur’s Gate 3 the Hamarhraft might seem like a regular two-handed Maul, but a unique bonus grants you a small area-of-effect attack that doesn’t require casting a spell. How to Get the Hamarhraft in BG3? Explained
In order to get Hamarhraft in Baldur’s Gate 3 you’ll need to visit Waukeen’s Rest, which is an Inn complex you can find at the northern portion of the Act 1 map. The locked gilded chest which holds the Hamarhraft is on the second floor of the burning Inn in the back northwest corner, and can be difficult to get to because of the fire.
Additionally, before approaching Waukeen’s Rest for the first time it’s best to put Wyll in your party, if you have recruited him. There is a story event here which will give you some more insight into his past. This will lead to a Save Duke Ravenguard quest, which will reward you here with one of three other weapons: The Sparky Points, The Joltshooter, and The Spellsparkler.

Second Floor of the Inn
After saving Counsellor Florrick, head into the Inn through the main doors and up the stairs along the back walk. As you approach the doors on the top landing, a character should comment about how dangerous and hot the doors seem. Be warned – when you open any of these doors fire is going to start to explode everywhere. Characters will be blinded by smoke and over time the fire will grow.
Additionally, on this second floor there is the gilded chest with Hamarhraft in one room, and a man named Benryn trapped in another. If you want to do both at the same time you’ll absolutely want to be in turn based mode and you’re going to want to ungroup your party. One character can attempt to save Benryn and another can get the Hamarhraft.

You should ideally choose Astarion for the maul, because it’s in a locked chest that requires you to pass a 20DC Sleight of Hand check.
However, if the fire is proving to be too much of a pain and much easier way of getting the Hamarhraft is by leaving the Inn and Long Resting back at camp. The fire at Waukeen’s Rest is a timed event and you can wait for it to burn itself out. Be careful, however, because doing so will also lock off saving Counsellor Florrick and Benryn if you don’t do those first!

How to Use the Hamarhraft in BG3?
The best way to use the Hamarhraft maul in Baldur’s Gate 3 is by equipping it to a two-handed Paladin or Fighter build. The Shockwave passive would be a great way for a melee character to enter the fray, using their Strength to jump great distances and damage multiple enemies at once.
Furthermore, if you wanted to get creative with it, you could try making use of the surrounding environment. There is at least one spell, Create Water, and several different types of water bottles in Baldur’s Gate 3. Casting or throwing any of these on the ground will create a Water Surface. If you cast a Lightning Spell over the same area, you can create an electrified surface. This can cause enemies to to become Electrocuted.
