The easiest way to access the spider cave is by climbing down the well in Blighted Village. However, you will need to pass a 10 DC intelligence check. Also, ensure you have a potion, spell, or scroll of Feather Fall. Once you climb down to Whispering depths, head east to face a challenging battle against the resident spiders. We advise you to reach at least level 4 before going to Underdark.

After defeating the spiders, cast feather fall and jump down to the green chasm. You will discover a big area underneath called Underdark, where all three pieces required to get Mourning Frost are located. In Underdark, you can also find more quests, fantastic gear, passage to Grymforge and craft adamantine gear.

Head southeast to find the Sussur tree and Icy Crystal from Myconid Colony. (Check the map above for reference.) Whether you take the south or north path, be aware that the Sussur flowers block any type of magic but can also be used to deactivate lighting turrets in Arcane Tower. So ensure your spellcasters always stay a few steps away from them during combat.

Filro might be a challenging enemy, and he or his terror creatures can surprise you outside of his campsite to the west. Also, ensure his body won’t drop to the chasm because you will lose a chance to loot the Icy Crystal from him.

He will attack you immediately. Once you deal with him, check his equipment and pick up a second Mourning Frost piece.

Icy Helve is in possession of Dhourn

The last piece, Icy Helve, is in possession of Dhourn, a Drow who was transformed to stone just west of Selunite Outpost Wyapoint. Selunite Outpost is an old Selune building in ruins in the southeast corner of the map (check the map above for reference.)

How to get Icy Helve - Defeat Spectator and loot it from Petrified Dhourn - Baldur's Gate 3

As soon as you approach petrified Drows, the Spectator, a one-eyed monster, will appear and attack you. The Spectator will also unpetrify Dhourn to fight at his sight; he is under the charm. If you kill a spectator without hurting any drow warriors, you can then speak with them.

If you have an unpetrified elixir, you can throw it at more turned-into-stone draws to save them. To obtain Icy Helve, you must kill Dhourn. Additionally, if you have a familiar, you can send it to the area to kill Dhourn because minion creatures do not trigger Spectator to appear.
