When a character is crouched or sneaking, and an enemy turns to look at them, they can be in one of three states:
- Clearly seen (you are not in shadow or hiding behind anything)
- Lightly obscured
- Heavily obscured

How to Get The Shadespell Circlet in BG3?
To get The Shadespell Circlet in Baldur’s Gate 3 you must make your way to the Underdark in Act 1, find Omeluum in the Myconid Colony, and complete his quest before purchasing the accessory from him.
Step 1- Find Your Way to the Underdark
The easiest way to reach the Underdark in BG3 is by using the Well at the Blighted Village. After climbing down to the bottom, you’ll find yourself in the Whispering Depths.
While in the Whispering Depths, you’ll face the Phase Spider Matriarch boss. Once you defeat her, cast Feather Fall on yourself and your party members. You can acquire Feather Fall through a spell, a potion, or a scroll.
Then, leap into the glowing green chasm near the site of the spider boss fight. With Feather Fall active, you’ll safely descend into the Underdark.
Step 2- Talk to Blurg in the Myconid Colony
After landing in the Underdark, head northwest to reach the Myconid Colony. Guards will be stationed at the entrance, but you can easily gain entry by passing a simple Charisma check. To get The Shadespell Circlet in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll need to find the hobgolbin Blurg.
Head a little to the north of the Myconid Colony waypoint to find him. When you talk to blurg, you should mention your tadpole issue. Doing so will lead him to introduce you to his friend Omeluum. Speak to the mind flayer and let him investigate the tadpole. He’ll offer to help, but says he needs some special ingredients for a potion.
Step 3- Complete Help Omeluum Quest
Next, you need to travel to the southwest portion of the Underdark to find and explore the Arcane Tower to find Tongue of Madness and Timmask Spores. Return these to Omeluum and play through the resulting dialogue. Afterward, you can start a conversation with Omeluum again and you’ll get the option to trade with him. Finally, The Shadespell Circlet will be available in his shop.
How to use The Shadespell Circlet in BG3?
The Shadespell Circlet in Baldur’s Gate 3 is most effective when worn by a stealth-focused Rogue or Ranger. To maximize its potential, you’ll need to master the art of positioning, ensuring your character stays out of sight. When your character is obscured, an icon will appear above their head. A fully white sun indicates no obscurity, while a half-white/half-dark sun means your character is Lightly Obscured. A fully hooded sun icon signals Heavily Obscured.
Furthermore, your Rogue or Ranger can obscure also themselves by moving into shadowed areas or positioning behind environmental objects that block an enemy’s line of sight. Additionally, crouching to hide also counts as being obscured, provided you remain outside the enemy’s red cone of vision and stay out of detection range.
