So if you wish to defeat these creatures, you need the mantles. Mantles are special items that you can equip to act as an equalizer against difficult enemies. Mantles such as the Ghillie Mantle, Rocksteady Mantle, Corrupted Mantle, and more provide you with several buffs that can help change the tide of battle.
Among the mantles available in the game, the Corrupted Mantle is one of the best but is not without its downsides. As its name suggests, the Corrupted Mantle is a corrupt mantle that increases Affinity and weapon performance, but at the cost of lowering your health. Land successive hits on your target with this mantle equipped, and your attack power and Affinity will be boosted even further.

How To Unlock the Corrupted Mantle
You unlock the Corrupted Mantle by defeating the High Rank Gore Magala in Monster Hunter Wilds. You will find Gore Magal in this quest in Chapter 5-2 of the game. Follow along the quest and then talk to Fabius in the Iceshard Cliffs. He will inform you of the monster prowling nearby, believing it to be the root cause of the Frenzy spreading. To deal with the virus, you have to deal with the Gore Magala. Proceeding with the quest and hunting the creature will solve the problem. Once the Gore Magala is done and dusted, head over to Gemma in the base camp and talk to her. The Smithy will then give you the Corrupted Mantle, which you can then equip to reap the rewards.
This mantle is absolutely worth getting. The deteriorating health may be a bummer, but the upside of increased affinity and weapon performance make this one of the best mantles to have. If you land consecutive hits, you can see your Affinity rise all the way up to 30 percent, which can be a game-changer, depending on the other gear equipped. The attack power, too, will rise to +20 in that instance. Just make sure that you use it at the right time to steer clear of its downsides and extract maximum benefits.
