Learn how to use Soul Trap spells and enchantments in Oblivion Remastered to fill Soul Gems of any level consistently.

Enchanted weapons in Oblivion Remastered consume charges with every attack that hits a live target, whether a sword is swung or an arrow is shot from a bow. The charges consumed depend on their enchantment, and the enchanted weapon can only be recharged in two ways—by using a Sigil Stone or a soul gem. Of the two, creating and filling soul gems is an elaborate but easily farmable process. However, before filling up soul gems, one must harness Soul Trapping.
How To Soul Trap in Oblivion Remastered

Soul Trap is an effect that can be inflicted on a living target in a couple of ways:
Soul Trap Spell
Using the Soul Trap spell on a target causes the Soul Trap effect for the spell’s duration. If the target dies while the effect is active, the effect fills a soul gem of appropriate capacity with their soul. The tier of souls and the soul gems that can be contained are: Petty, Lesser, Common, Greater, Grand, and Black. The Black Soul Gem has as much capacity as a Grand Soul Gem. Moreover, it can capture NPC souls.
To unlock the Soul Trap spell, purchase it at any Mages Guild Hall. You have to reach at least Apprentice level in Mysticism to cast the lowest level Soul Trap spell. Increasing Mysticism or the power of Soul Trap spells will only increase their duration, and the soul trapping mechanic will remain unchanged. Because the spell lasts only for a short duration, you should cast Soul Trap when the target nears death. So that you can finish them off in a few hits.
Soul Trap Enchantment
Any weapons enchanted with Soul Trap will inflict the effect on a living target for the specified time after a successful hit, usually for a few seconds. If you kill a target with a hit from a Soul Trap-enchanted weapon, its soul fills an empty soul gem. Since using the enchanted weapon drains its charges, you should switch to the Soul Trap-enchanted weapon when the target’s health is low to land the final hit. A Mages Staff with Soul Trap will act just like a Soul Trap spell upon use. Since creating enchanted weapons requires filled soul gems, you will likely have to use the Soul Trap spell before its enchantment can be created.
