Discover how to unlock Guardians and solve the jumping puzzle in the Sacred Pledge of Blood quest in Throne and Liberty!
Completing the main story quests in Throne and Liberty will unlock many game mechanics and also gradually introduce you to many new abilities and polymorphs. One of the most powerful and helpful of these morphs are Guardians, and they function much like an ultimate ability in battle. However, you won’t be able to unlock them right away in the game. You’ll have to play through several of the main story ‘chapters’ until you come to the Sacred Pledge of Blood quest in Chapter 5.
The following guide will tell you all of the steps you need to take to start the Sacred Pledge of Blood quest, where to find the Temple, how to solve the puzzle inside, and tips for defeating Leonardas, the final boss!
Sacred Pledge of Blood Quest Guide in Throne And Liberty
The Sacred Pledge of Blood quest becomes available in Chapter 5 of the main story in Throne and Liberty, and completing it will officially unlock Guardians as both polymorph and ultimate ability. You can collect some other Guardians from side quests before this point. However, you cannot use them until you complete the Sacred Pledge of Blood and collect the Vampire Slayer Ezekiel guardian at quest’s end.
Therefore, you simply need to follow the main story quest and complete the necessary objectives through Chapters 1-4 until you reach Chapter 5. There will then be a few quests to complete in this new chapter before you are finally led into the Sacred Pledge of Blood. You will start in Vienta Village but be sent to Stonegard Castle to pick up the Pledge Loop.
Next, you need to go to the Temple of Sylaveth, which can be found just northwest of Stonegard Castle. To enter, simply interact with the door. This minor dungeon will be instanced-based. Therefore, you will have to complete it by yourself, without help from any other players.
However, this dungeon is small and the steps are fairly straightforward until you reach the room where you have to collect the Floating Thought.
How to Solve the Jumping Puzzle to Reach the Floating Thought
After speaking to Scarla’s Ghost, the first step to reaching the Floating Thought is to interact with the Memory Sign pedestal and then head up the stairs and through the ghostly gate that isn’t there. Immediately turn to the right and head down the hallway. There you will find another pedestal.
Secondly, let the ghostly platforms time out and then interact with the second Memory Sign pedestal. Then go through another ghostly gate directly ahead and jump across the space on to the broken pillar. Next, run to the end of the pillar and then jump or glide across to the second pillar. Now do the same again to glide through the ghost gate on the other side. Turn right again to reach a third pedestal at the end of the hallway.
Wait for the ghost pillars to time out so you can reset them and start again without worrying about falling. Finally, interact with the third Memory Sign pedestal, then walk through the ghostly gate and jump on to the pillar ahead. Walk to the end of the pillar and use the grapple point to pull yourself across the gap. Now carefully walk to the end of the platform and examine the Floating Thought.

How to Defeat Leonardas and Unlock Guardians in Throne and Liberty
To beat Leonardas in Throne and Liberty you must always interact with the floating red Pledge Artifact that will appear during the battle. Therefore, you will want to keep a decently wide view of the arena. Make sure your camera isn’t set too close to your character.
Additionally, when the Pledge Artifact appears, Leonardas will turn into shadow and you will not be able to attack. The only way to return him to his physical form is by using the Pledge Artifact.
Otherwise, this fight is a fairly straightforward one. Leonardas fights with daggers and he has basic attacks, as well as the ability to teleport behind you. Be ready for the glowing purple circle to appear, which will give you a chance to execute a perfect block.
Finally, after the fight is over and Leonardas is defeated, you will automatically receive Vampire Slayer Ezekiel as your Guardian. Check out the Guardian option in the Main Menu to see him. Moreover, any other Guardians you might have collected will now be available to use.
