Master the Split Fiction Ice King with our step-by-step guide to defeating the final boss in chapter three.
The Ice King is the final boss in the third chapter of Split Fiction. It’s a reincarnation of Zoe’s imagination on how she perceived a cat she used to hate during her childhood. The sabretooth Ice King adorns a magic crystal, being the source of its power. Through a series of three stages, let’s dive in and defeat the Ice King through this detailed guide.
Stage 1
The first stage involves the two of you standing on a platform in the middle of the tower. Evade the strikes by observing the glowing areas on your platform.
After four hits on your platform, the fifth one triggers a cutscene where the boss destroys the entire platform. Both of you fall down to the next platform, this time facing the boss head-on.
Stage 2
In the second stage, the Ice King now has a health bar at the top of the screen. The initial part of the stage requires you two to dodge the incoming slashes. The next part involves the Ice King striking the ground, sending shockwaves of ice spikes rushing your way. Time your jumps to avoid getting hit by them.
The Ice King sequences its strikes by a two-strike followed by a three-strike combo. Once it performs the two-strike combo, Use Zoe to catch the Ice King in its vulnerable state, and pull him down to the floor.
Use Mio’s monkey form and inflict some damage before it gets back up. If performed correctly, you will deplete 20% of its life.
The Ice King is infuriated, resulting in his attacks being faster and randomized. The first sequence involves spikes of ice falling on the highlighted portion of the platform. Dodge it quickly.
The second sequence involves the Ice King shooting mini spikes from his mouth, dropping randomly while slashing claw strikes at the two of you. These two sequences are repeated twice, following which he attempts the two-strike combo on the ground. This is your chance to grab and pull him down to inflict more damage. His life is now brought down to almost half.
Stage 3
The Ice King strikes the ground with a much greater force, this time breaking the floor. Both of you now slide down the ramps. You both need to time your jumps to avoid obstacles on your path and slide side-to-side to dodge the incoming ice spikes.
The Ice King will occasionally try to strike you with his paw, from the open windows down the path. Once you reach down, run forward towards the next platform where the Ice King awaits.
The Ice King now raises the stakes as he causes a whirlwind to appear, covered with ice. Furthermore, mini whirls of ice move around the sides to try and strike you. Time your dodges. Run to the left side during this phase.
There is a small time-out period after the spinning stops. Use Zoe during the opportunity to grab the projectile inside the flower and hurl it towards the Ice King. This temporarily stuns the king giving Mio the time to use her monkey transformation to inflict some damage.
The second phase of this stage begins with Ice King freezing the area above the flower. The Ice King now throws small rolling bombs your way. It is up to you both to guide these fireballs towards the ice in the center.
Once they explode, the ice slab in the center weakens. Repeat this whenever he does this till the Ice slab breaks.
Once it breaks, have Mio enter the water again, shoot the projectile up and use Zoe to hurl the projectile straight at the Ice King. Use this opportunity to have Mio deal the final blows and break the crystal on his forehead.
The cutscene triggers. The curse of the frost disappears, returning spring and new hope to the land of Underlands. A glitch forms in thin air through which Zoe and Mio travel back to the simulator.
