Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 Content
The main feature of the new content coming in Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is improved evil endings. Of course, when it comes to evil endings, many of the Dark Urge choices are beyond the pale. Indeed, the ominous clip above gives us a glimpse of what Larian has in store. Furthermore, this new content isn’t just for Dark Urge characters either. Rather, it will cover all custom characters who select morally grey or evil choices throughout the story.
Additionally, with Patch 7, Larian is introducing its official modding tools for Baldur’s Gate 3. This will allow modders to “change up visuals, animations, sounds, stats, and more.” BG3 already has a very active modding community on Nexus. But, adding official modding tools and support should expand the possibilities of what can be created.
Finally, although Patch 7 may be the final update bringing new story content to Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian will still tackle technical issues. The smaller hotfixes have always been released between the larger patches. Their focus has been bug fixes, performance enhancements, and stability improvements across all platforms.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Future DLC?
Unfortunately, despite strong suggestions for further adventures in the epilogue, Game Director Swen Vincke has confirmed that Larian Studios will officially not make any DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3. Moreover, they will not be involved in developing any future Baldur’s Gate 4 production. Instead, the studio wishes to turn their focus to something new. Vincke won’t yet say what the studio is planning, but that they have “seize[d] this opportunity to develop our own IPs.”
We won’t be introducing any major new narrative content to the story of Baldur’s Gate 3 or its origin characters and companions, nor will we be making expansions or Baldur’s Gate 4.
Larian Studios, Community Update #26
However, although the work won’t be done in time for Patch 7, Larian has promised to release Crossplay and a Photo Mode to Baldur’s Gate 3. Although the studio may be focusing on something new, there will still be a team dedicated to BG3. Crossplay and Photo Mode are unlikely to be released until the latter half of 2024. Players can expect Larian to continue supporting Baldur’s Gate 3 through at least the rest of the year between these two updates, modding tool support and future hotfixes.
