Assassin's Creed Shadows: Genbao Fort Guide

Clear Genbao Fort in Assassin’s Creed Shadows to get some great rewards, including progression points and a legendary teppo.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players can infiltrate numerous fortresses and castles to earn some rewards. These places are often well-guarded with at least one Samurai Daisho present. To clear it, players must kill the Daisho and unlock the legendary chest in that area. Genbao Fort in Shadows follows this same structure, except for the fact that the castle has two Samurai Daisho in it.

Because of the two Daisho, this castle might be a little challenging for some players. That is why, in this article, we will walk you through Genbao Fort in Assassin’s Creed Shadows so you can get your hands on some loot.

To locate Fort Genbao, players will have to open their maps and look in the northeastern part of the Wakasa Region. Once there, you will find the fort sitting on Mount Urchinako. It is, of course, possible to reach the location on foot or horseback, but alternatively, you can also just fast travel to Hikidan-jo Ruins or the Tsuruga Kakurega. However, this method will only work if the two fast travel points mentioned are already unlocked.

How To Defeat the Two Samurai Diasho in Genbao Fort

Before you can kill the two Samurai Daisho, you will need to infiltrate Genbao Fort. To do that, first, go to the northeastern part of the castle and simply climb up the walls through the broken fence. Naoe is a trained shinobi, so she won’t have a problem when it comes to scaling walls and rooftops. Once you are inside the fort, you can move freely and hunt your targets in any way you want.

However, we would recommend that you follow the northeastern path to a large tower since if you climb onto it, you will easily spot both the Samurai Daisho. The first Daisho will be in the northeastern part of Genbao Fort, while the other will be in the opposite direction, the northwestern section of the fort in Genbao Tenshu. Now, you will notice that two guards are on your way to the first Daisho, so you will need to take them out before you try to assassinate the primary target.

To start the hunt, you can simply take out the guard near the tower you are in first. Then go towards the house in the southwest corner of the castle. After that, climb it and you would almost instantly spot more guards keeping a vigilant watch and protecting the first Daisho. After this, you can kill the guard in the northern or southern area and then assassinate the first Samurai Daisho in Genbao Fort.

After taking out the first Daisho, your focus should instantly shift to the second one. The last Samurai Daisho in Genbao Fort will be in the Tenshu we mentioned earlier. You will be able to find it in the northwestern courtyard. Additionally, there will be two guards on the first floor for you to kill. After that, you can head to the second floor and meet the last Samurai Daisho. However, he will be surrounded by four guards and a servant.

So, even though direct combat is a viable option in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we recommend that you try to take out as many guards as possible before you use the hidden blade on the Daisho.

Once both Samurai Daisho are dead, the legendary chest in Genbao Fort will be unlocked and yours to claim. However, you won’t have to find the chest since it will be in the same room as the second Daisho. We will list the content of the legendary chest below:

Other than that, you can also loot the resources pile in the shed in the northern courtyard, more specifically, on the northeastern side of it. Then you will be able to find another chest on the top floor of the northwestern courtyard’s Tenshu. Lastly, in the southern courtyard, you will find another chest in a small house.

The Viewpoint

Additionally, you can also go to the northwestern corner of the upper courtyard and climb the Tenshu. There, synchronize with the viewpoint and complete Genbao Fort in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
