Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Temple of the Horseman Main Quest Walkthrough

Naoe finally faces off against Nobunaga and Yasuke in the Temple of the Horseman main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The objective of the Temple of the Horseman main quest is to eliminate the leader of the Shinbakufu, Oda Nobunaga. The mission is located at Shoryuji, where you are first tasked with meeting Mitsuhide.

Fast travel to the nearest location and go to the targeted blue blip. Mitsuhide would be waiting outside the house where you can approach and talk to him. He tells Naoe that all the preparations are ready, to which you reply, “Let’s go”.

Assassinate Oda Nobunaga in Assassin’s Creed Shadow

After the first cutscene for Temple of the Horseman ends, we are seen standing on the roof of a house in Honnoji Temple with our immediate task of assassinating Oda Nobunaga. Make your way forward by running across the walls and the roofs of houses. Once you approach the main entrance gate, climb up from the right side before the alert bar of the enemies reaches red.

Once inside, jump from roof to roof till you reach the blue-blipped house at the center of the location. Another blue blip forms, showing you exactly where Lord Nobunaga is. From this vantage point, you see a glimpse of Yasuke as he enters the house in which Lord Nobunaga is.

Find Nobunaga Before Lord Mitsuhide Begins His Attack

Quickly, jump off the roof between the bushes and proceed forward to the roof of the house in which Nobunaga is before the guards spot you. Now go to the back side of the house. There are a few guards over here whom you can quickly assassinate. Once killed, enter the house through the doors.

A cutscene triggers, which indicates the attack has begun. Lord Nobunaga instructs Yasuke to defend the gate. After everyone leaves Nobunaga to go and participate in the war, Naoe confronts Nobunaga.

Duel Oda Nobunaga

Nobunaga’s attacks are slow and mostly consist of one-hit combos. A majority of his attacks are blue-blipped, which means they can be parried. If you approach him nearby, he will grab a hold of you and down you. You can escape the after-blow with a quick dodge.

Strike him fast and keep dodging. After bringing his life below half his total health bar, they have a brief conversation, after which his strikes become faster. Quickly finish him with some final strikes and get his life to zero. The next cutscene begins.

Naoe Faces Yasuke and Nobunaga

As you are about to assassinate him, Yasuke comes to his defense, and you both get into a duel. Yasuke corners her by the wall when he sees her hidden blade. This is when he realizes that she is the girl he was asked to find and help, and refrains from killing her.

Truths come out as Naoe and Lord Nobunaga speak, with Naoe leaving him be and running away. Nobunaga, on the other hand, decides it is time for an honorable death. He asks Yasuke to assist him in performing the seppuku, a ritual suicide practiced amongst the ancient samurai warrior class. This act involves stabbing oneself in the gut, followed by the one assisting slicing off the head.
