Pre-ordering Assassin’s Creed Shadows lets you play the Thrown to the Dogs bonus quest. Here is how to complete it.

Players who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be allowed to play through a bonus quest named ‘Thrown to the Dogs’. Completing this mission gives you the pre-order bonus rewards.

You must progress the main story to a certain point to unlock this objective in the game. Here is a complete guide on how to start and finish the Thrown to the Dogs Bonus quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

How To Start the Thrown to the Dogs Bonus Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Firstly, you must have pre-ordered the game to gain access to this objective. The standard or deluxe edition does not matter, as long as the order was placed before the release of the game.

This objective will become available on the map after you are done with the lengthy prologue of the game. Once that is done, you can go ahead and start this quest by heading to the location marked on the map.

First, you have to find the dog at the top of the hill, next to Tennoji Temple. This poor animal will sound hurt, and interacting with it will progress the quest.

How To Finish the Thrown to the Dogs Bonus Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Naoe will then proceed to follow the dog, which will bring you into some skirmishes against some samurai. Defeat the enemies, and press onward to meet Takako, who is Ichiro’s (the dog’s owner) sister-in-law.

She tells Naoe about Ichiro’s death, and the key to the estate. Here, you can respond in two ways:

• You will pay for hurting this dog.
• Touch this dog, and deal with me.

The first option will put you into combat with Takako, which lets you kill her. The second dialogue choice will make Takako run away. Therefore, the choice is yours to decide on Takako’s fate.

However, the above choice has no bearing on the ending of the mission. Both of the above options will make the quest progress to the next step, where you have to find Ichiro’s key.

Acquiring the Key

The last step is to find Ichiro’s key. Using Observe will highlight three search points in the area, however, we found it in one location. This is the area to the right of where you talked with Takako. Go behind the house, and you will see a small gap to crawl into (as shown in the image above). If the key is not here, just head to the other two locations, and check there.

Lastly, take the key from here, and go back to the gravesite. Here, you will notice a small box to unlock with the newfound item. This box will contain Ichiro’s inheritance. This letter will reveal the dog’s name to be Tsuki-maru. With that, the quest will be finished, rewarding you with Ichiro’s letter and Tsuki-maru as a pet.
