Where To Find Scratch? – Pet Dog Location
You can find Scratch, the pet dog in a Blighted village to the east of Druid Grove, and look for a white dog standing next to the dead body of his master. From Druid Grove head east, and after you pass through the bridge above Owlbear cave, follow the path north. The exact location is shown on the map above.
How to Get a Dog Pet in Baldur’s Gate 3?
To get the pet dog you must convince him to leave his previous owner’s dead body and follow you to your camp. Save your game before you try to recruit him, in case he accidentally runs away you’ll be able to load the save and try again. After you approach poor Scratch interact with him but be aware that he doesn’t realize that his master is not going to wake up and he is protecting him from adventurers like you. If you successfully pass a perception check You’ll be able to learn his name, on the collar “Scratch”. Now you will have three options:
- Try to convince the charming dog that his owner is dead – as a result, you’ll be able to recruit him and he will join you at your camp
- Leave – nothing will happen
- Shoo Him – The dog will run away and you’ll lose a chance to recruit him
Here are all the steps to get Scratch and convince him to become your pet in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Find the white dog north of the Druid Grove
- Interact with him
- Pass the perception check to learn, his name – Scratch
- Say “You’re okay, Scratch…”
- Pat the dog
- During the dialogue convince him that his master is dead
- Pick the option “I don’t think he’s going to wake up.” and then “Come on, you can travel with me if you like.”
- Lastly, extend your hand so the dog can follow your scent to camp.
- Go to the camp and end the day with short or long rest
- Congratulations you just recruited the dog and you have a new canine pet in your camp!

How You Can Interact with Scratch and How to Get His Approval?
After Scratch becomes a part of your camp, each time you return, you’ll have the option to pet him or engage in a game of fetch with your new companion. Several advantages come with having Scratch by your side at the camp. Frequent petting not only strengthens your bond with Scratch, but also boosts the approval ratings of many of your party companions. Moreover, you’ll be treated to an endearing cutscene featuring your character showering affection on Scratch—a heartwarming sight indeed.
After you tame him you’ll receive a special ability to summon scratch anywhere in the game, outside of combat. However, he can help you fight as well. He has only 5 hit points and a weak bite attack, but it’s such a great addition to the roleplaying aspect of the game.
