Blue Prince is a puzzle roguelike game that beautifully combines the puzzle and roguelike elements to create one of the most challenging games of 2025. The puzzles alone are difficult and are often exacerbated by the randomized roguelike nature of the game. The more runs you complete, the more Blue Prince unveils the cards up its sleeve, and the easier the puzzles become.
The endgame puzzles are a challenge, yes, but familiarity with the mechanics and tricks gives you all the tools you need to tackle them. This can be a little frustrating for players who wanted more, and the game accounts for this by adding in the Dare Mode.
The Dare Mode is an unlockable challenge mode/new difficulty in Blue Prince and one that significantly ramps up the challenge. It is the hardest difficulty and one meant for masters of the game. Owing to the fact that the challenge may be insurmountable for some, this is a difficulty you can only unlock deliberately, perhaps to ensure that newer players don’t accidentally make the game harder for themselves (we’re looking at you, Sekiro).

How To Unlock Dare Mode in Blue Prince?

Before you unlock the Dare Mode, you first need to find the mysterious Room 46. Once you have done so, you will unlock the Mt. Holly Gift Shop, which brings forth a new set of never-before-seen items for you to purchase. Head over to Mt. Holly Gift Shop and purchase the Swim Bird Plushie item for 110 coins. Purchasing this item unlocks the Dare Mode difficulty.
With the Dare Mode difficulty unlocked, start up a new save file. This difficulty lets you play through the game as you know it but adds in four extra challenges that spice up your experience. The difficulty mode presents you with ‘Dares’ that you must complete in order to finish the game.
