ESO Magicka Templar PVP Build
The ESO Magicka Templar PvP Build is ideal for players looking to for maximum survivability with high burst potential. Magplar PvP is a great place to start because it’s simple and yet effective with your main spammable damage ability that also heals you. Now the way ESO scales abilities and procs with spell damage, you have great survivability and burst. I’ve taken this thing into high MMR Battlegrounds, outnumbered Cyrodiil and Imperial City and it works well solo or grouped. If you’re looking for a group DPS build click HERE, one bar builds HERE or a PvP build HERE. Also, consider watching me on Twitch where you can ask me questions about my current builds.
Last Updated March 16, 2023 for ESO Update 37, Scribes of Fate. The Templar has seen massive changes, particularly to the melee-aggressive playstyle. Now the Templar excels at ranged and using beam as their best skill. So expect the bars, skills, and gear to look radically different for a reason. Jabs/Sweeps is no longer that effective. I changed the skills/gear to be ultra tanky and have high burst damage with the range using staff.

Skills
Front Bar: Fire Staff
Front Bar Weapon Options: They are all good choices depending on your playstyle and needs. Experiment with what works best.
- Fire staff - range and most single target damage and pairs well with elemental users.
- Frost Staff - great option if using ranged build with Master's Frost staff.
- Dual Wield - best overall damage via passives highest DPS but without a restoration staff or Ice staff on the back bar can be brutal to sustain.
- Two-handed has the best passives for burst.
- Lightning Staff: provides easy fully charged heavy attacks for resource sustain and 10% AoE damage when channeling.
Aurora Javelin (Morph of Piercing Javelin | Skill line: Aedric Spear) - Used as a knockdown at range to drop block and nuke a target.
Power Of The Light (Morph of Backlash | Skill line: Dawns Wrath) - burst damage, procs minor spell damage bonus and reduces armor. This is your killing tool as it soaks up damage like a balloon. After 6 seconds, a percentage of the amount of damage you've done is released for huge burst. The trick to killing players is to fill up the damage, stun and beam.
Radiant Glory (Morph of Radiant Destruction | Skill line: Dawns Wrath) - Best single target execute for PvP, to be used around 40% health or lower. Make sure you're in back and not interrupted.
Dark Flare (Morph of Solar Flare | Skill line: Dawns Wrath) - A hard-hitting range spammable that will lead into your combo meteor, javilin beam.
Living Dark (Morph of Eclipse | Skill line: Dawns Wrath) - Incredible healing per second even after High Isle nerf and much less resources intensive to maintain.
Shooting Star (Morph of Meteor | Skill line: Mages Guild) - Ranged bursty ultimate combined with Javelin to stun/drop block for massive nuke.
Back Bar: Sword and Shield
Back Bar Weapon Options: They are all good choices depending on your playstyle and needs. Experiment with what works best.
- Sword and Shield - great choice when blocking The benefit of a sword and shield is using stamina for block mitigation when taking tons of pressure. Switch to sword and shield if you like a slower pace gameplay or if you struggle with survivability.
- Frost Staff - can either use magicka or stamina for blocking and gives as much damage reduction as Sword and Shield and you can use the spell damage enchant and have some range.
- Restoration Staff - the best buffs and healing. The strength of Resto is fully charged heavy attacks for major mending and magicka sustain.
Channeled Focus (Morph of Rune Focus | Skill line: Restoring Light) - This skill will give you resource sustain and your armor buff. You’ll also get nice healing standing in the small rune IF you have a high health pool. I’d recommend newer players or folks unfamiliar with PvP to run max HP due to this ability and Living Dark scaling off max health.
Degeneration (Morph of Entropy | Skill line: Mages Guild) - Use this for your major sorcery buff and rely on Mara's Balm gear set for cleansing. Consider this your flex spot, just use spell damage/critical potions if your resources are good.
Elusive Mist (Morph of Mist Form | Skill line: Vampire) - You have two choices for mobility skills Race Against Time vs Elusive Mist in Stage 3 Vampire. Mist provides the greatest survivability combined with the Undeath passive HOWEVER, you'll have to manage your resources more effectively. I currently prefer the benefits of a stage three vampire, but swap to RAT if you don't like it.
Resolving Vigor (Morph of Vigor | Skill line: Assault) - Good burst heal and it gives minor armor buff to be combined with major.
Honor The Dead (Morph of Rushed Ceremony | Skill line: Restoring Light) - Great burst heal that gives a bit of sustain back. The trick is to not relay on this ability unless you are very low. You’ll want heals from your rune, bubble, and ritual to do the majority of the work as this gets costly especially in no CP situations.
Spell Wall (Morph of Shield Wall | Skill line: One Hand And Shield) - God mode damage reduction and reflect at range. Swap in whatever defensive ultimate here.
