This guide explains how to use the best Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) Stamina Sorcerer PvE Build, skills, gear, champion points, and more!
This build has been updated for the Update 42 patch of the Elder Scrolls Online.
Why Should You Play the ESO Stamina Sorcerer PvE Build?
The ESO Stamina Sorcerer PvE Build is for players who are looking to complete group content on a class that offers insane damage as well as great survivability. The Stam Sorc is the hardest hitting single target class in the game right now, and they got even better with Gold Road. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or seasoned player, there is a build option for you!
ESO Stamina Sorcerer PvE Build Playstyle
Use the following rotation as the starter point. After, apply your buffs and cast the DoT skills on cooldown for the best, highest DPS. In total, the Damage over Time skills (DoTs) do more damage than your main spammable. Thus, they need to be cast less often and are easier to maintain, for example, The Degeneration from the Mages Guild or the Barb Trap from Fighters Guild. Maintain DoTs and use your spammable skill as filler until you need to reapply the DoTS.
At certain percentages, replace your spammable with your in-class or weapon execute if you have one in this build. Executes are the skills that deal more damage the lower the health of the opponent becomes. Ideally, these are meant to replace your main spammable skill at anywhere between 35% (Radiant Oppression) all the way to 20% (Mages’ Fury). At a high level, execute skills become so strong that the lower the enemy’s health, the fewer DoTs you maintain because it does so much damage.
Use the healing skill when your health drops below 50% or the shield skill when you anticipate damage. Also, always use the suggested food and potions as they significantly increase your damage, survivability, and resource sustain.
If you run out of resources, do a heavy attack and return to your rotation. Remember that a heavy attack on off-balance enemies will return double the resources. Additionally, if you are a beginner or struggle with sustain, you can flex in the Consuming Trap skill instead of a DoT skill. The Consuming Trap gives you a flood of both resources when a target dies.

Scribing Skills – ESO PvE Stamina Sorcerer Build
The best grimoires for a Stamina Sorcerer PvE build are Ulfsild’s Contingency, Traveling Knife, and Soul Burst. Contingency gives you a large radius burst of damage as well as a long DoT. Setting Contingency up with shock damage modifiers gives you the greatest dps increase for aoe fights, but this skill isn’t really worth using in more single target encounters. Traveling Knife is another great grimoire for the Sorcerer that does great damage, and Soul Burst is your go-to aoe grimoire for no-pet trash builds. Below are the suggested combination of Grimoires, focus, signature, and affix scripts:
- Ulfsild’s Contingency: Shock Damage (Focus Script), Lingering Torment (Signature Script), Minor Vulnerability (Affix Script)
- Traveling Knife: Bloody (Focus Script), Warrior’s Opportunity (Signature Script), Major Savagery/Prophecy (Affix Script)
- Soul Burst: Shocking Burst (Focus Script), Class Mastery (Signature Script), Minor Breach (Affix Script)
The Scribing System utilizes one of 11 new skills from the Gold Road Chapter called Grimoires. With Grimoires, you can customize spells via Scripts. The scribing feature requires the purchase of the Gold Road Chapter (sponsored link). If you wish to know more about Scribing, check out our full guide here.
Rotation and Parse
Stamina Sorcerer is still the hardest hitting class on the dummy this patch. The only changes you would make to this build on the target dummy is to swap out Crystal Fragments for Bound Armaments and run Stampede and Carve on the backbar with a Maelstrom Greatsword instead of Blockade and Caltrops. You’ll also want to run Weapon Power Potions to source your major damage buffs. You can also change your Atronach morph to Greater Atronach for high single target dps.
You can also change your Twilight morph to Tormentor, getting a little more damage at the start of the fight, but losing the heal, especially in dungeons, isn’t the best idea for a negligible damage increase.
Parsing on the Sorcerer is relatively straight forward. You pre-buff Hurricane>Volatile Familiar to start the fight. Then you open with Daedric Prey>Bar Swap>Blockade>Atronach>Hurricane>Bar Swap>Whirling Blades then you’re casting Crystal Fragments only when you get a frag proc and making sure you cast Daedric Prey every six seconds. You can watch Daedric Prey explode as it expires, allowing you to recast it. If you recast Daedric Prey early, you’ll miss out on that final damage explosion, cutting the dps of the skill in half.
Crystal Fragments Explained
One thing you can change in content that will help your group is to start every fight by casting a regular Crystal Fragments. The reason we run Crystal Fragments in content over Bound Armaments is we don’t have another Dark Magic ability on our bar. Through the passive Exploitation, every time you cast a Dark Magic ability, you give your group Minor Prophecy for 20 seconds. This increases the spell critical chance of your group. Your group will lose out on this buff, assuming there is not another Sorcerer in group, until you get a Crystal Fragments proc, so casting this as the tank is pulling the boss can give your group this buff from the moment you pull the boss. If there is another sorcerer in group, you can run bound Armaments instead, casting it every time it stacks up for four for a dps increase over Crystal Fragments.
One other thing you can do to increase your dps is to only cast Volatile Familiar when you are on your front bar. Crystal Fragments procs every time you spend resources on your front bar, so you have a chance at another frag proc if you recast your Familiar on that bar. You’ll want to cast your frag proc every time as a priority over other skills.

Consumables
The best consumables for the Stamina Sorcerer PvE build are Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables and Spell Power Potions. Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables gives a massive amount of health and stamina, stats that give you both the most survivability and damage of any other consumable. If you struggle with stamina sustain, you could switch to Artaeum Takeaway Broth or Dubious Camoran Throne as a cheaper option. These both give up some stamina and health for stamina sustain.
For your potions, your build doesn’t source your major weapon/spell damage and crit buffs, so you need to bring those buffs on your potions. We have spell power potions here because as a Sorcerer, you will always bring Minor Prophecy to the group, and your critical chance scales off of whichever is higher, your weapon or spell crit. In a group, Nightblades provide the group with Minor Savagery, so if you have a Nightblade in group, you could run either Weapon Power Potions or Spell Power Potions. If you do end up running Traveling Knife with Major Savagery and Prophecy as an Affix, you can run tri-pots.
- Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables: Increase Max Health by 5395 and Max Stamina by 4936 for 1.5 hours. Ingredients: Greens (1), Seasoning (1), Small Game (1).
- Artaeum Takeaway Broth: Increase Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406, Max Stamina by 3080, and Stamina Recovery by 338 for 2 hours. Ingredients: Fish (20), Melon (5), Powdered Mother of Pearl (5), Torchbug Thorax (5).
- Essence of Spell Power: Restore 7582 Magicka immediately. Grants you Major Intellect which increases your Magicka Recovery by 30%. Grants Major Sorcery which increases your Spell Damage by 20%. Grants Major Prophecy which gives you 2629 Spell Critical Rating. Ingredients: Lady Smock, Corn Flower, and Water Hyacinthe.
