How to get Laser Painter God Roll in Destiny 2
Laser Painter is obtained by playing Gambit and drops randomly as an end of match reward, Gambit based Weekly Challenges, or turning in Gambit Engrams. It will be able to be focused from Gambit Engrams starting in Season 22.
PvE Laser Painter Roll
|Column 3 Trait||Rapid Hit|
|Column 4 Trait||Focused Fury|
|Origin Trait||Veist Stinger|
Barrel: Arrowhead Brake gives us a nice handling buff as well as helps the recoil of this weapon.
Magazine: For high damage per second, there is no greater choice than accelerated coils. This does hurt total damage but its rare you will fire everything anyway.
Column 3 Trait: While there are a few good options here like Clown Cartridge and Auto-Loading Holster, Rapid-Hit Pairs really well with our choice for Column 4 and the Veist Stinger Origin Trait.
Column 4 Trait: There aren’t any mind-blowing damage perks on this Linear, but Focused Fury isn’t a bad option. Its still the best for boss damage phases on this weapon.
Origin Trait: While its been heavily nerfed, Veist Stinger is still a very powerful origin trait.
Masterwork: Range is the best choice for masterwork to keep the reticule on target easier.
Mods: This weapon will mostly be used for boss damage phases, so Boss Spec is definitely the best mod choice.
Conclusion: While this isn’t a bad Linear Fusion Rifle, its definitely beat out by its older brothers, the Taipan and Cataclysmic. Its really only worth grabbing as its currently the only strand option at the time of this writing, and that most likely won’t be true forever.
PvP Laser Painter God Roll
|Column 3 Trait||Fragile Focus|
|Column 4 Trait||Harmony|
|Origin Trait||Veist Stinger|
Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling will get the Painter’s range up, which is important for accuracy cones.
Magazine: Like the Barrel, Projection Fuse will help us reach that maximum range.
Column 3 Trait: Linears play differently than other weapons in PvP, so the perks are gonna be a little odd. Since you don’t want to be using a Linear if you are taking fire anyway, Fragile Focus actually helps a lot with this weapon.
Column 4 Trait: Switching to the Painter after a kill with another weapon will activate Harmony, which will allow for nice easy body shots on all guardians that aren’t rocking T10 Resilience.
Origin Trait: The Origin traits on this weapon don’t help it much in PvP.
Masterwork: Range is still the best option for this weapon, although Handling isn’t a bad option either.
Mods: Targeting Adjuster is always a solid choice for PvP.
Conclusion: This weapon actually has some fun potential in PvP, but only as much as any other Linear that can roll with perks that make 1 shot body shots possible. Not worth grinding out, but if you get one its worth trying out in the Crucible.
