This guide gives weapons, exotics, and armor mods for a Destiny 2 Arc Hunter PvE Build, intended for all levels of PvE players!
Updated June 19, 2024: Destiny 2: The Final Shape and Update 8.0.0.1 has many crucial changes. The new expansion brings a new subclass, Salvation’s Edge raid, with new weapons and gear, a power level increase, new exotic gear, and – never seen before – exotic class items. Also, the new base game update includes many class and weapon balance changes that influenced the Destiny 2 builds and meta.
Why Should You Play Arc Hunter in PVE?
PVE Arc Hunter is the epitome of a good offense is a good offense. The object of the subclass is to get in the face of your enemies and punch them to death. Since this is paired with subclass healing and an AOE debuff on the enemy, it’s hard not to enjoy the Arc Hunter playstyle. Hunters have access to some of the highest damage supers with a lot of exotics that buff their damage even more. Find out all the details on how to craft, create, and optimize our Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build.

Abilities
The best abilities for the Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build are Combination Blow, Gambler’s Dodge, and Gathering Storm. The Gathering Storm super is incredibly powerful because it can stick in enemies or the ground dealing massive AOE damage to any nearby enemies. The Combination Blow melee is the star of the show that heals us, refunds our dodge on kills, and stacks up damage the more kills you get with it. Lastly, our Gambler’s Dodge keeps our gameplay loop going by allowing us to dodge near enemies to get our melee back.
Gathering Storm – A throwable super that can stick in the ground or in an enemy that deals impact damage and damage over time in a large AOE
Gambler’s Dodge – Activating this dodge while in close proximity to enemies will give you your melee ability back
Triple Jump – The most common jump for a PVE hunter due to its easy of use and strong control. It also allows hunters to generally go higher and further with their jumps.
Pulse Grenade – Grenade that pulses with hard hitting AOE damage
Combination Blow – This melee stacks damage up to three times every melee kill, gives a small bit of health, and refreshes your dodge upon getting a kill
The most important ability we are using in this build is our Combination Blow. Since we are using Liars Handshake, simply using our melee will heal us and deal massive damage on every other melee or after taking melee damage ourselves. The Pulse Grenade is designed to help clear trash enemies or jolt big targets to give some AOE cleave to nearby enemies. The grenade can be swapped our based on player preference, however, the other skills should remain as part of the build.
Aspects
The best aspects to use with our Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build are Flow State and Lethal Current. Flow State provides us with amplification after we jolt a target and gives us a few buffs. Also, Lethal Current buffs our melee after we use our dodge.
Flow State – After killing a jolted target, we become amplified. This gives us a buff in reload speed, and dodge recharge rate. It also pairs with our fragments
Lethal Current – When we dodge, this buffs our melee causing it to jolt targets and cause a massive aoe aftershock
Lethal Current is essential with this build since it buffs our already powerful melee allowing it to be a great single target and area of effect ability. Lastly, Flow State provides us a nice buff to our dodge cooldown, and reload speed increase for simply using one of our skills.
Fragments
The best fragments for our Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build are the Spark of Resistance, Spark of Shock, Spark of Ions, and Spark of Amplitude. Since these provide us with damage resistance, ability energy, and generate orbs of power.
Spark of Resistance : Since this build is very aggressive in nature and our survivability requires us to be close to enemies, this will give us a little extra tankyness
Spark of Shock : This causes our grenades to jolt targets giving us massive AOE damage with our grenade spam
Spark of Ions : Since our grenades are constantly jolting targets, any time this is off cooldown we will be getting an ionic trace to help us keep up our spam
Spark of Amplitude : After constantly jolting things which makes us amplified, this allows us to constantly generate orbs of power for ourselves and teammates
Spark of Resistance is one of the most important fragments for our build since it provides damage resistance while we are near enemies. Since we are in close damage range with this build, the survivability from this fragment can be the difference between staying alive or not. Secondly, Spark of Shock allows our grenades to jolt enemies providing even more trash mob cleave. Moreover, Spark of Ions provides use with Ionic Traces after killing jolted targets which restore ability energy. Lastly, Spark of Amplitude generates orbs of power after defeating targets while amplified.
Weapons
The best weapons for our Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build are Scatter Signal, IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.3, and Tractor Cannon. Tractor Cannon is the star of the show debuffing any enemies caught in its blast. This allows all our abilities to deal significantly more damage. Also, IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.3 is incredibly powerful with this build providing another source of Jolt with the perk Voltshot. Lastly, Scatter Signal is a burst damage fusion rifle for high single-target damage.
Here’s a list of the best weapon loadout for our Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build:
- Kinetic: Scatter Signal, Rapid-Fire Frame Fusion Rifle
- Energy: IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.3, Aggressive Frame Submachine Gun
- Heavy: Tractor Cannon, Exotic Shotgun
Alternatively, you can run any legendary special weapon in the kinetic slot or run a shotgun with the perk One-Two Punch. However, One-Two Punch and Liar’s Handshake together will have diminishing returns as there is a cap on how much extra your melees can do. Most of the weapons can be swapped our for preference as the build is centered around your abilities which will be most of your damage.
Exotic Armor
The best exotic armor for the Arc Hunter PVE build is the Liar’s Handshake. Overall, provides some massive benefits to our already extremely buffed melee ability. It provides healing and a damage boost to our melee after taking melee damage or previously using our melee. Moreover, this means every other melee will be boosted and heal us even if we don’t kill the target. As long as we maintain constant meleeing it’s nearly impossible for us to die in most circumstances.
Armor Stats
The best stats to focus on in our Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build are Mobility, Resilience, and Discipline. Since these provide us with survivability, reduce our class ability cooldown, and reduce our grenade cooldown.
- Mobility: 100
- Resilience: 80
- Recovery: 20
- Disciple: 70
- Intellect: 30
- Strength: 30

The best armor mods for our Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build are Heavy Handed, Hands-On, and Dynamo. Since these build into our melee, survivability, and super regeneration.

Gameplay Tips
This Liar’s Handshake Arc Hunter PVE Build is about using our melee to deal massive damage. Our entire kit is based around buffing our melee damage and allowing it to be our main survivability tool. While this build does have a significant amount of healing, being in melee range is still very risky in end-game content. Should you choose to run this build, make sure you focus on its strengths of damage and healing with your melee. You have to commit to the playstyle to survive.
Our melee isn’t the only powerful weapon we have in the kit. Our grenade is quite powerful and we get it back insanely fast with our mod choices. Also, our super is not only one of the best damage over time supers but has a major area of effect. This makes it capable of dealing massive single-target boss damage while clearing out any trash enemies that are in the vicinity.
