This guide gives weapons, exotics, and armor mods for a Destiny 2 Solar Titan PvP Build, intended for PvP players!
Updated June 19, 2024: Destiny 2: The Final Shape and Update 8.0.0.1 has many crucial changes. The new expansion brings a new subclass, Salvation’s Edge raid, with new weapons and gear, a power level increase, new exotic gear, and – never seen before – exotic class items. Also, the new base game update includes many class and weapon balance changes that influenced the Destiny 2 builds and meta.
Why Should You Play Solar Titan in PvP?
The Destiny 2 Solar Titan PvP Build is designed around surviving. Solar Titans are known for their ability to survive in most situations, and PvP is just another aspect of that. You don’t have to get any fancy plays or chain anything to make this build work. Just throw up a barricade and use the sunspot it generates to give yourself that little boost that helps you win that 1v1 or survive that scrape that could have ended very badly.

Solar Titan PvP Playstyle
Play PvP as you normally would, but try to finish your enemies with your melee or grenade to generate sunspots. These will grant you buffs to make your next engagement easier while they last. They don’t last long but long enough to make a difference in a fight. In those situations where you are getting hammered, find a spot to breathe and throw up a barrier to generate sunspots. This could be that edge in a fight that you need. Don’t rely too much on them, though. They don’t make you invincible. They are a tool to utilize, not a survive anything button.
Abilities
Some abilities, aspects and fragments need to be unlocked before use. In order to do that, Destiny 2 players need to visit Ikora in the Tower and do the related quest or purchase them from her. Lastly, if you bought new aspects and fragments don’t forget to “meditate”. Simply click the “meditate” option on the table next to Ikora.
Hammer of Sol – This super edges out its competition with its ease of use. Its alternate, Burning Maul, can be effective in the right hands of course, but most people just jump or strafe out of the way to avoid it.
Rally Barricade – Titan barricades can give players a lot of wiggle room in lanes. Giving them a place to see their enemy but remain behind cover. Rally Barricade has a shorter charge time than Towering Barricade.
Catapult Lift – This really comes down to personal preference, so feel free to flex another lift if you prefer it.
Solar Grenade – A nice, easy to use grenade for most situations. Feel free to flex in Tripmine grenades if you find yourself on a map with lots of corners and lanes.
Hammer Strike – Hammer Strike is a nice easy to use melee option. If you are good with it, you could flex in the Throwing Hammer.
Aspects
Roaring Flames – While our build isn’t necessarily built around this like its PvE brother, this is still a useful Aspect to use to get a buff when you do get solar ability kills. If you like Consecration, you can flex it in for this.
Sol Invictus – Sunspots. That is all. That’s the reason we want this. As a Solar Titan we always want sunspots. They heal us, grant us ability buffs, and hurt our enemies.
Fragments
Ember of Solace : Makes the restoration effect that sunspots give us last longer.
Ember of Singeing : We will be scorching our enemies on occasion and this will help our barricade come back faster.
Ember of Beams : This helps our super hit targets more easily and also grants us a nice intellect buff.
Ember of Wonder : We are really just using this for t
Weapons Solar Titan PvP Build
The best weapon combination with the Solar Titan PvP Build is an Igneous Hammer and Conditional Finality. Since these provide the best utility for both good close-range and mid-range engagements. Also, Hand Cannon and Shotgun is one of the highest skill gap weapon combinations and is often preferred by veteran players or those participating in high levels of PVP content.
Weapon Combinations
Below are some additional weapon combinations for our Solar Titan PvP Build:
- Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle – Best for good aimers
- Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle – Best for aggressive players
- Pulse Rifle and Shotgun – Best for passive players
If you wish to run a different weapon combination, we highly recommend at least running a primary ammo weapon and a special ammo weapon. Running two special weapons will limit your ammo and is not functional. Even though utilizing two primary weapons is doable, you will be at a massive disadvantage due to the strength of special ammo weapons.
Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle
While not as iconic as the hand cannon and shotgun meta that ruled Destiny 2 for many years, the hand cannon and fusion rifle combo is lethal. You benefit from mid-range engagements with your hand cannon and close-range bursts with your fusion rifle. This combination is potent for guardians who like the high skill gap of hand cannons, and it provides an easier-to-use special weapon with the Fusion Rifle.
Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle
With close-range and long-range engagements taken care of with this pairing, however, playing very aggressively with this combination is recommended. With a submachine gun, you are lethal at close ranges, allowing you to contest most weapons within short range. A sniper rifle lets you clear a lane and push up towards your enemies.
Pulse Rifle & Shotgun
This pairing allows for both long-range and close-range to be secured. Pulse Rifles can out-range most hand cannons while providing a very easy-to-use weapon, so they work well with more passive players. Shotguns provide one-shot potential when getting rushed by enemy players that push your position.
Exotic Armor
Loreley Splendor Helm – Obtained from Legendary Lost Sectors. The perfect survival option. It won’t save you all the time, but it will give you an edge in one-on-one fights.
Armor Stats
The best stats to focus on in our Solar Titan PvP Build are Strength, Resilience, Strength, and Disciple. Below are the recommended stats:
- Mobility: 30
- Resilience: 100
- Recovery: 60
- Disciple: 80
- Intellect: 50
- Strength: 80
