How to Find Archer Vocation Maister
In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can unlock a unique ultimate ability for each vocation by finding the Vocation Maister and earning their approval. Completing some of the quests can be time-consuming, but the powerful abilities usually are worth it.
Moreover, you do not have to have any specific Vocation Rank before unlocking ultimate abilities. However, you do have to have the vocation itself unlocked. This isn’t a concern for the Archver vocation, as this class is immediately available at the start of the game. If you don’t start the game as an Archer, the only thing you have to do is reach Vernworth and visit the Vocation Guild.
The following guide will walk you through how to find the Archer Vocations Maister in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the quests you must complete to unlock the abilities.
How to Find Warrior Maister Taliesin
- Maister: Taliesin
- Location: Sacred Arbor
- Required Quest: ‘Gift of the Bow’. Before you can meet Taliesin, you first need to interact with this son Glyndwr. You’ll find him in Vernworth looking at the bows near Roderick’s Smithy. Give him a bow and he’ll tell you to meet him at the Sacred Arbor to the far northwest of town. Then rest and back again to Vernworth to meet with Glyndwr where he tells you about the Trials of Archery.
- Quest Timer: There is likely time for you to make your way to Sacred Arbor. However, once you arrive and start the Trial of Archery you should stay on that quest path to rescue Glyndwr’s sister. Do so, and then talk to their father Taliesin for the Hunter’s Secret scroll.
- Ultimate Ability – Heavenly Shot: Fires an almighty arrow that consumes all your stamina. The arrow’s potency is determined by the remaining stamina when it is loosed.
How to Complete Gift of the Bow
To find the Warrior Maister Beren in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you will need to first find his son Glyndwr in Vernworth. He’ll be right outside Roderick’s Smithy, looking at the bows in stock. Speak to him and he’ll say that he is looking for a human-made bow. Gift him one from your inventory. It can be any bow – a starter weapon, or the cheapest one you can buy at the shop.
Glyndwr will thank you and ask you to join him outside of the Sacred Arbor to test the bow out and train. The game will mark the area on the map, which is far to the northwest of Vernsworth. Before you set out, switch your vocation to Archer and summon a pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith specialization. Once you reach the location, he will ask you to demonstrate using your bow. Fire at one of the indicated targets. This will complete ‘Gift of the Bow’ and you should return to Vernsworth for the next step. If you have one on hand, you can set a Portcrystal down for easier fast travel next time.
How to Begin A Trial of Archery
Return to Vernsworth and wait at least one full day. Then, Glyndwr should return to his original location outside of Roderick’s Smithy. He states that he will soon be undergoing the Trial of Archery and asks if you would be willing to attend. He will offer to guide you to the Sacred Arbor and tell you where to meet him. If you didn’t set down a Portcrystal or don’t have Ferrystones, you will have to walk all the way back north. The location won’t be exactly where Glyndwr was before, but it is very close by.
Glyndwr will greet you as you approach and then lead you and your party to the Sacred Arbor. You’ll face several fights along the way, but it’s mostly with wolves and shouldn’t be any trouble at all. After arriving at the Sacred Arbor Glyndwr will vouch for you with the guards and then lead you to his father. Taliesin is the Archer Maister, but says that the Trial of Archery cannot go forward as his daughter Doireann has been taken by an orge.
How to Save Glyndwr’s Sister Doireann
Glyndwr will immediately set out to save his sister and your party should follow him to the Ancestral Chamber. Head inside through the tunnels and make sure to defeat all the enemies so coming back out is easier. Deep within you’ll find Doireann in the hands of an orge. Glyndwr tells you of his plan to shoot an arrow, causing the ogre to drop his sister. He instructs you to run forward, pick her up, and carry her out to safety.
This should be pretty straightforward. When Glyndwr shoots, you should run forward and grab his sister, then begin to carry her out. As you dash forward, you can command your pawns to ‘Go!’ and they should fight the ogre. Otherwise, they will turn back around and follow you out.
Carry Doireann all the way back out the tunnels and a cut scene will play out. Taliesin commends his son for his excellent bow shot and thanks you for your assistance.
How to Unlock Heavenly Shot
Taliesin won’t give you the Hunter’s Secret scroll right away outside the Ancestral Chamber. You will have to return to the Sacred Arbor and rest or wait for a full day before speaking to Taliesin again. Depending on how high his approval of you is, he may or may not give you the Hunter’s Secret scroll immediately. If he doesn’t, he should offer you an escort quest. Afterward, his approval should finally be high enough.
Open your inventory and click to Use the scroll, which will automatically unlock the Heavenly Shot skill for your Arisen or main Pawn to use.
