Instructions and everything you need to know about Blunted Blades set which you can get from Cyrodiil in ESO.
Blunted Blades
Blunted Blades Features and Set Bonuses in ESO:
- Name: Blunted Blades
- Type: Cyrodiil Set
- Available Armor Weight: Medium Armor, Jewelry, Weapons
- Location: Cyrodiil
- Requires DLC: No, part of the base game
- Armor Set bonuses (Level 50 – CP 160):
- (2 items): Adds 1487 Armor
- (3 items): Adds 1096 Maximum Stamina
- (4 items): Adds 129 Weapon and Spell Damage
- (5 items): When you take direct damage, Minor Enervation is applied to your enemy for 4 seconds, reducing their Critical Damage done by 10%. This can occur once every 5 seconds. Increase your damage done to enemies with Minor Enervation by 6%.
In ESO (The Elder Scrolls Online), Blunted Blades is a set with bonuses geared towards a Stamina DPS build. The first three item bonuses are a mix of increases to Armor, Stamina, and Weapon and Spell Damage.
The major 5-piece bonus is triggered only when you take direct damage in ESO. Direct damage in ESO is defined as damage that hits the target with a single hit. This applies not only to light and heavy attacks but also to some abilities. Examples include abilities such as Crystal Fragments, Snipe, Force Pulse, and Wrecking Blow. It can also include some area-of-effect abilities such as Whirlwind and Impulse, making it sometimes hard for players to tell when it applies.
However, by wearing the Bluted Blades set, you are going to be taking direct damage regularly. When that happens, for the next four seconds the enemy that hit you has Minor Enervation, which reduces their Critical Damage by 10%. Additionally, your damage done to an enemy with Minor Enervation is increased by 6%. This can debuff can proc every 5 seconds.
How to Use Blunted Blades Set in PvE and PvP?
The Blunted Blades set in ESO will likely not find much use either within player vs environment (PvE), or in player vs player (PvP) settings. While the 2 to 4-piece bonuses are an interesting mix of buffs, each by themselves doesn’t add a whole lot to an overall build. Moreover, the major 5-piece bonus is simply not any better than already established sets many players have already collected in their sticker book.
PvE
Blunted Blades is a set found in Cyrodiil and the bonuses applied to this set are geared more towards Cyrodiil play. This set likely won’t be seen in PvE settings, whether that’s overland, dungeons, or trials. The specific meta for those situations is already strong, and Blunted Blades likely won’t impact it.
PvP
Unfortunately, there is almost no chance that the Blunted Blades set will change any of the build or gear meta in PvP. The small increases to Armor, Stamina, and Weapon and Spell Damage don’t add up to much. Furthermore, while the 5-piece bonus sounds good in theory (decrease damage done, increase your damage to them), in practice the damage gained is not impressive. You can run almost any other already established set instead of this like Order’s Wrath, Essence Thief, or a meta-proc set which will give you better resources, health, and a 10% damage buff.
How to Get Blunted Blades Set in ESO?
Rewards of the Worthy coffers earned in Cyrodiil or Battlegrounds provide Blunted Blades armor, weapons, and jewelry. Here are instructions on how to obtain all items from the ESO Blunted Blades set:
- Have a character at level 10 or higher
- Enter Cyrodiil or join a Battleground
- Fight other alliances/players, take keeps/resources, etc.
- Earn Alliance Points (AP)
- For every 20,000 AP earn, you will automatically receive a Rewards of the Worthy coffer via mail
Expect it to take some time for you to collect all of the Blunted Blades set pieces because several different Cyrodiil sets can drop from the Rewards of the Worthy coffers. However, when the Cyrodiil battlefield is active you can often accumulate Alliance Points fairly quickly. Moreover, you should be able to sell and trade Blunted Blades set pieces. Therefore, if you have a piece or two that won’t drop in the coffers, you can try finding them for sale at guild traders.
Finally, this set is part of the base game and is available for all ESO players.
