In this ESO Psijic Order Leveling Guide I’m going to take you step by step through how to unlock the guild and how best to level the result skill line.
Psijic Order
The skill line associated with the Psijic Order is not part of the base game and requires the purchase of either the Summerset Chapter/DLC or having a subscription to ESO+. This is a skill line that can be rough going to level – like the Mages Guild it requires a lot of running around and finding certain points on the map (in fact, make sure to unlock Mages Guild too so you can then run around one time doing both!). But if your goal is to play any kind of PvP, it will be well worth it for the Race Against Time ability which can be unlocked on this skill line.
If you’re a brand-new player it can be even more difficult to level as it requires stops in multiple zones, many of which will be outside of your starting alliance and may be difficult for you to access. Join a player guild or three, if you haven’t already – this can provide you with additional help getting around. Whether you’re asking for help in guild chat about porting to a specific zone or looking to see if someone on the rooster is already where you need to be – simply right click on their name and ‘Travel to Player’.
How to Unlock
You’ll have to do a bit of storyline questing before the skill line unlocks. Travel to the wayshrine outside of Alinor and just steps away should be an NPC named Calibar. Talk to him and follow the quest line from there.
Eventually you will meet a mage from the Psijic Order and a quest or two later she’ll invite you to visit the Psijic isle of Arteum. Once you unlock the single wayshrine on the island you can choose to ignore the main Summerset quest you were following.
Instead, you’ll be picking up a different quest line. Go inside the Tower and within the first large, main interior space find and speak with Loremaster Celarus. Doing so will unlock the Psijic Order skill line and start a new questline, which will send you on your journey to find and close a multitude of Time Rifts!
Leveling the Skill Line
In order to level the skill line for the Psijic Order you need to close Time Rifts found across all of the base game zones. You’ll only be allowed to do a certain number (usually 9) at a time, typically with there being 3 rifts in each of 3 zones. These rifts will be generally marked with X on a quest item map you can reference in your inventory.
Additionally, when you arrive within a rift’s general vicinity, the Augur will start to speak. You can click to interact, and a golden halo will then encircle your character’s head. You now have to run around and look for the rift. If the halo disappears, then you’ve gone in the wrong direction and have to try again.
Like the Mages Guild the most efficient way to do this time-consuming task is by downloading the MapPins addon (unfortunately only available on PC). Once the addon is installed, pull up the Map in game by clicking ‘M’. On the right-hand side of the screen you should now have a Filter option. Click on it, and you will have a whole list of things to choose from. Find ‘Time Rifts’ on the list and click the check box. Now the Time Rifts you need for the quest will all be marked on the map with a big black X.
