How To Beat Merchant Kanta (Iron Hand Guild) in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Here is how to find and defeat the Merchant Kanta, part of the Iron Hand Guild quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The Iron Hand Guild is one of the various target boards available to complete in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This particular guild involves the tracking down of five different members. In this guide, we will look at how to find and extract information from Merchant Kanta.

Once you find the letter from the Katano Oil Trading area, you will have unlocked the Iron Hand Guild quest. This will guide you to Sakai, towards the southwest region of Izumi Settsu. Travel to the blip and speak with Imai Sokun.

Through the triggered cutscene, Imai explains the task of extravasating clues from the four merchants who serve the Iron Hand. You have the option to either kill or spare these merchants’ lives.

How To Find the Missing Ship in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The first quest involves locating Merchant Kanta, who owns a naval operation in Omi. His boats generally travel along Lake Biwa. To get clues of his whereabouts, finding and inspecting a missing ship is necessary. This blip can be spotted on the world map on an island in the middle of Lake Biwa, to the west of Azuchi. You are also given clues stating that the ship was last spotted on Lake Biwa and was supposed to pass near Okishima.

Travel to the location, approach the shore, and assassinate the three enemies camping near the campfire. Once you do that, you can loot a chest near a blue blip on your screen. You will get a clue of where Merchant Kanta is. Now go to the objective board in your settings, and you will see a new clue stating that his ship is being run out of Otsu Port.

How To Find and Defeat Merchant Kanta

The next part of this mission is at the Mouth of Seta, to the east of the Hills of Meeting. Fast-travel to the nearest location and make your way to the objective. Once you reach the Otsu Upper District, you will be entangled in a duel against Merchant Kanta and his hired dacoits.

At this stage, you have the option to either kill everyone, including Merchant Kanta. Or you could kill all the enemies and later confront Merchant Kanta. When you get closer to him, you will see two options pop up: to assassinate or grab the merchant. If you grab him, he will willingly give you the letter, enabling you to complete the mission without spilling unnecessary blood. A dialogue prompt appears for you, stating that you should spare the lives of the merchants, as they may be working against their will. The decision lies in your hands.

Once you kill or spare Merchant Kanta, you receive the ‘letter Regarding Otsu Port. ‘ The letter mentions that the Iron Hand is an associate of Tamba. This is the first of the four clues you will get to complete the Iron Man Guild quest.
