How To Beat Usami Yoshiko (The Betrayers) in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Find Usami Yoshiko for The Betrayers quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Choose to either kill or spare her.

Usami Yoshiko is a concubine and one of the traitors who was partially responsible for the death of Oda Nobunaga in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Hori Hidemasa tasks Yasuke with eliminating her alongside six other targets in The Betrayers quest. Usami Yoshiko is comparatively easy to locate and eliminate.

However, you will have the option to spare the concubine when Yasuke confronts her about her actions. Although The Betrayers quest is part of Yasuke’s story, you can also switch to Naoe while completing the objectives. 

Usami Yoshiko Location in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Usami Yoshiko is in the town of Katano in Izumi, Settsu, the game’s starting region. The mission intel says:

• She is in Settsu
• She can be found in the outskirts of Katano Castle

Travel to Katano, which lies north of Osaka and southeast of Senri Hills. You can find her southwest of Katano Castle. The closest fast-travel location to her is the Katano Tenshu viewpoint in Katano Castle. Exit the castle from the southern gate and turn right onto the road. Take the first right along the castle’s moat and use the Observe skill on the house to the left. You will spot Usami Yoshiko inside the house with a perimeter wall. You can enter Yoshiko’s room without facing any resistance.

Spare or Assassinate Usami Yoshiko in AC Shadows

When you enter Usami Yoshiko’s room, she will be facing away from you. You can assassinate her on the spot or talk to her. When you confront her as Yasuke, he says, “It gives me no pleasure to take your life, but honor demands it.” Yoshiko forlornly replies, “My heart had grown heavy by the cruelties I’d witnessed, for both the guilty and the innocent.”

She talks about being swayed by a young samurai who filled her mind with dreams about changing the world, prying secrets out of her before casting her aside. Usami Yoshiko seems to regret the consequences of her words, and it is up to you to decide her fate. You can either kill her, saying, “Corruption carries a price,” or spare her, asking her to leave concubine work and the castle behind. Either choice will carry the same reward and make no difference to the quest’s outcome.
