Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a wide combat scope with many weapon options for both Yasuke and Naoe. However, you will also need to know defensive maneuvers in order to effectively win all fights. This is especially important since not all attacks can be blocked or parried.

Dodging is a mechanic that has a wide variety of benefits in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. You can use it to avoid fatal attacks, roll away to create space, or even reposition yourself to better use combos. In this article, we will explain how you can dodge attacks in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

You can dodge attacks by rolling or stepping away when the enemy attacks in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. You can do this by pressing Alt on your PC, and the basic mechanic differs for Naoe and Yasuke.

When you dodge as Yasuke, he will perform a sidestep with his weapon. On the other hand, Naoe will roll away when she dodges in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Attacks that have a red glow cannot be blocked or parried, and dodging away is the safest option in these circumstances.

If you manage to dodge an enemy’s attack just as it is about to hit, you will execute a Perfect Dodge. This will leave the enemy vulnerable, which will also appear as a yellow-orange-ish glow on the enemy. When an enemy is vulnerable, you can easily sneak in a full combo with your weapon to deal a significant chunk of damage.

In particular, Naoe has a special skill with her Tanto, which is called Shadow Barrage. You will unlock this at Knowledge Rank 2, and this will make her dodge all incoming attacks automatically for a short duration. Shadow Barrage can be upgraded in Knowledge Ranks 4 and 5 to increase its duration and number of hits.

Note that you will only be able to use the Tanto while Shadow Barrage is active. If you swap your weapon during this while, you will be forced out of the auto-dodge mode instantly.
