In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Githyanki Half Plate is a medium armor you can obtain when you start the game, meet Lae’zel, and steal it from her. You can loot it from other githyanki too. You can equip it to your chest slot in inventory, and the character needs a Medium Armour proficiency to be able to use it or will suffer penalties.
The Githyanki Half Plate gives the highest AC (Armour Class) early in the game. It can carry your survivability for the entire Act 1 until you find something better, such as Adamantine Scale Mail armour, or Armour of Agility, one of the best gear items in the game. It gives the disadvantage on stealth checks, so if you play Rogue or stealth character, you want to pick something else. It’ll be perfect for any class that uses medium armour such as Ranger, Druid, or Cleric.

How to Get Githyanki Half Plate in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3, you acquire the Githyanki Half Plate from Lae’zel or by looting any Githyanki warrior in the game.
You’ll meet Lae’zel in the prologue, and you’ll be able to control her in combat and also manage her equipment. Transfer the Githyanki Half Plate to your inventory and equip it. It’s a perfect solution, especially if you are not going to keep her as a companion.
Additionally, you can loot this medium armour from Githyanki warriors in the northwest during Act 1 and in Creche Y’llek in Mountain Pass Area. However, be cautious if you are below level 4 because Githyanki are typically powerful opponents. The best strategy to defeat them is to stun them and apply any status effect to prevent them from multiple attacks per turn. You can use spells such as command or banish to make your task easier. When you head to the Githyanki location in Act 1, don’t forget to attempt to obtain the legendary Silver Sword of the Astral Plane – the most powerful two-handed weapon at the beginning of the game.
