In Baldur’s Gate 3 a Rapier +1 is a lightly enchanted blade which can be wielded with one hand. It is also classified as a finesse weapon, which means it can benefit from the wielder’s Dexterity and not just their Strength. Only weapons with this attribute can be used for a Rogue’s sneak attack action, which makes rapiers and daggers an excellent choice for a companion like Astarion.
While it may seem like a simple weapon on the surface this blade is good for a Rogue who has unlocked the Dual Wielding feat. A Warlock or Bard who want a main hand weapon may also wish to pick this up. Though you will certainly replace it later, it does good damage for the early game in Act 1.

A Rapier +1 is available to buy from Dammon in the Emerald Grove during Act 1. His small, humble forge is to the far back of the caves where the Tiefling refugees are staying. All you must do is find the Druid Grove and help defend it from Goblins, and you will be allowed to enter the location straight after the prologue where you can find a Rapier +1 for sale.
