In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, allies are characters who will fight by your side throughout the game. They can be summoned when you want, and they will assist you in combat until all the enemies are defeated or they take too much damage.

Although summoning allies is not necessary in Shadows, they can be of tremendous benefit in numerous missions. To summon an ally, you must first recruit them to your cause. Here is a guide on how you can recruit Yaya, the warrior monk.

Where Do You First Meet Yaya in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Yaya is likely to be the first ally you recruit to your cause. You first meet her during The Wounded arc, in the quest The Fatherless Monk. She will be introduced after you help some mercenaries defeat their enemies. Yaya is a powerful melee fighter who can be quite helpful in combat, and she is worth recruiting.

To get the opportunity to recruit Yaya, you must first reach the Heads Will Roll quest.

How Can You Recruit Yaya in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

After you have finished assassinating Wada Koretake, a cutscene will play where Mitsumune attempts to kill Koretake’s soldiers.

Yaya will not be happy with this and will ask you for support. Here, you will be given two options: to go ahead with killing the soldier or to forgive them. To recruit her, select the “Killing them isn’t justice” option. Although Mitsumune will kill them regardless, she will still be happy with you and available for recruitment.

After this, you will have to complete Yaya’s ally quest, The Stray Dogs, to recruit her. The quest location will be marked on your map. After you defeat the enemies attacking your future ally, you will have to select the correct dialogue options to befriend her.

Firstly, pick the “We forgive him” option. After this, when you meet Yaya again, you will have to pick the option “You need to forgive each other”. Lastly, you can recruit her by choosing the option “Let’s work together”. With this last dialogue choice, Yaya will finally join your side as an ally you can summon in combat.
