The Last Dagger Handgun is an ultimate weapon with the unique ability Ultimatum, which helps to inflict the stun status effect. Additionally, when you defeat an enemy, you gain Patience, granting a stacking buff to critical and Firearm ATK. With max stacks of 5, you stun a target and reset your stacks, repeating the process. The Last Dagger is an excellent critical weapon build focusing on critical hit rate and damage, optimizing its unique ability.

In the First Descendant, weapon stats are randomly generated for all weapons when they drop or are created via crafting. You can change (or re-roll) them through the Weapon Readjustment system, which is covered in more detail below.

The First Descendant provides several different avenues for upgrading and improving your weapons by using their repair station Workbench. The Workbench is located in the same general area as Anais and weapons seller Deslin on the west side of Albion. Below are the various methods for upgrading weapons in the First Descendant:
- Max Capacity UP: increase the module capacity.
- Level Transmission: upgrades level to your current level.
- Readjustment: changes weapon traits and perks.
- Enhanced Unique Ability: increase ultimate weapons unique effect to max of 5.
Maximum Module Capacity
When upgrading weapon mods, be aware there is an increased cost and a max module capacity of 80. The material needed is Energy Activators, and you will get one of these after playing through the end of the campaign, or you can craft them with Anais. Therefore, you want to balance increasing mods and not attempt to max out every one. A balanced approach to firearm ATK, critical chance, and critical damage is the best (+3 or so to each).
Weapon Transmission
Each time you craft an Ultimate weapon in The First Descendant, you will find that it is a low Level 1 firearm after collecting it from Anais. However, you can easily bring it up to your current weapon level using the Workbench Weapon Transmission mechanic.
Finally, you will need to reach Mastery Rank 3.
To level up The Last Dagger in The First Descendant, you will need:

However, unlike Weapon Transmission and Weapon Readjustment there is no unique crafting material you will need to create and use. To enhance the unique ability of The Last Dagger, you will have to craft a duplicate. Then, take that Level 1 duplicate to the Workbench and sacrifice it to upgrade the The Last Dagger ability to a stronger version.
How To Use The Last Dagger
The best way to use Last Dagger is by aiming at weak points and headshots to trigger its unique effect. The Last Dagger’s recoil will be high with five stacks; therefore, focus on upgrading the unique ability of this weapon for optimal usage. Also, when you enhance your round, try to target an enemy that can be stunned. The stun status effect can be helpful to eliminate pressure while the enemy is disoriented, and other mechanics in the game boost damage to stunned targets.
Your overall gameplay is centered on aiming for weak points and criticals at mid to close range with The Last Dagger. Continue to build stacks looking to the left of your UI and reset the buff for a free stunning shot.
